Early Entries to the NFL Draft

  It would be Miller, the #1 rated Dual Threat QB in the 2011 class.
  
  Did you see this kid in the State Playoffs? He throws the ball RIGHT NOW better than Pryor does and runs a 4.4 forty. Not as powerful of a runner as Pryor at 6-2 200, but is quicker and has more moves. And has played at a MUCH higher level in high school than Pryor did. His team lost in the last minute of the DI Title game.

  I have seen Miller highlights. And I think he will be a better QB than Pryor when all is said and done, Assuming he stays healthy. Because like you said...He already has better form and is a better pure passer,along with being a more elusive runner

  Braxton Miller is the real deal. I wonder if OSU plans on redshirting him next year or actually giving him some time? I doubt he's a 5 year guy, so might as well get someone out of him immediately.

  FYI on Baldwin's comments.......he made that statement after Wannstedt was fired, he came out the next day and apologized for the comments and said he was acting on pure emotion. FWIW, Baldwin is right, he wasn't used properly this year because Pitt didn't have a QB who could throw the ball down the field.

  Redshirts are up to the player. The coaches give the kid advice but the redshirt descision at OSU is the players choice. If Braxton is the 2nd best QB or 3rd best QB when applicable. I am just saying that there is a possiblity he won't be redshirted. He could be used in a wildcat formation or as a RB or WR for that matter.

  If the OSU coaches think he stays for four years, it doesn't hurt to redshirt him. But you don't want to redshirt a guy for him to leave after his redshirt sophomore season. If they think he has that kind of potential you use him in some way his freshman year to get him a little experience.

  Right and Pryor was not redshirted, so I think there is some precident there. It is the coaches choice to play him, but the coaches won't put him down the depth chart so he doesn't play if he didn't want to redshirt. So if he doens't redshirt it is up to his abilities compared to everyone else. I think he could be the 2nd or 3rd string for sure next year. Taylor Graham is going to surprise people at QB me thinks.

  Taylor Graham will never get a shot. That's just reality, although I've heard positive things about him.
  
  I think logic would say you redshirt Miller if he's just going to be a backup, but with his potential you might have to consider that you don't get him for four years. Either way it won't really matter.

  Then shoudn't the decision to take a redhirt off be up to the player as well? earlier this season the coaches were goin to take it off Etienne Sabino, but then decided against it--and in the articles I read nowhere did it mention that Sabino had any say in the matter--just wondering

  He didn't get it taken off, I think he had a large say in it. He had an opportunity to start for a few games and get a lot of PT. If he wanted to take it off he would have and would have played in the rotation. He wants to start at LB for 2 years and redshirting was how that was going to happen. Obvisouly if we had 3 major injuries at LB maybe he would have taken it off to help the team, but who knows. Again i'm sure they get conciled on how to handle the redshirt but the final decision is their's.

  I realize he didn't get it taken off, but I understood it was the coaches decision not to take it off, and that Sabino had no say in the matter. As a matter of fact, his reluctance to do so was well documented, which may or may not have influenced the coaches' ultimate decision. But the fact remains that it was the coaches decision whether to let him keep it or to take it off, not Sabino's.

  I think the coaches reserve the right if the extreme needs comes up, but in this case we were playing a couple of cupcakes and we had capable scholly players availble and the injuries were not season ending. It is the players decision to redshirt if they aren't starting as long as everyone isn't redshirting at once. Look at Marcus Hall he felt like he wasn't with it and redshirted, he could have been a part time starter at least. The coaches wouldn't have done that themselves.

  I guess it's fair to say that it's a collaborative decision based on what's the most beneficial to both parties--and that's the way it should be.

  But not as a typical person to train for a distance event as opposed to making it into the NFL.
