Cleveland State Vikings off to a 10-0 start
-
DTM04Anyone else notice that Cleveland State is still unbeaten? They just came off what usually is a tough road trip to the Wisconsin schools in the Horizon League (UW-Green Bay and UW-Milwaukee) with two nice wins. Norris Cole is scoring 20+ per game to lead the team. If they can win at Sam Houston State next Saturday, they'll head into a big game at West Virginia with a 12-0 record and have a shot to really make a name for themselves going into conference play.
-
Con_AlmaThey still have to get by Butler in the league tournament. Although it's possible it's uncommon to get an at large bid out of the Horizon League.
-
JesterIt's Cleveland State, so no, I doubt many people have noticed.
-
wes_mantoothWhere were they picked to finish in the conference
-
MulvaThey've played a horrific non-conference schedule. The only NCAA prayer they'll have is to win the conference tourney, because they will have 0 quality wins (unless they beat WVU).
-
DTM04They were picked to finish 3rd behind Butler and Detroit. Obviously their best shot is to win the Horizon tourney. I wasn't declaring them to be a lock for the NCAA tourney, just pointing out that a local team is doing pretty well.
Their non-conference schedule isn't that bad. They haven't played any "Big Six" opponents yet, but they've given Kent State their only loss. They also have wins against Akron and Iona who will finish toward the top of their conferences. Sam Houston next week is another team that is a pretty good mid-major coming off a trip to the NCAA tourney last year. Throw in West Virginia and South Florida and it's actually a decent non-conference schedule. It's not Butler or Gonzaga's non-conference schedule, but it won't be awful overall.
Again, I was just pointing out that they're off to a pretty good start. It's nice to see another Ohio team doing well. -
CinciX12Didn't notice. Tell me when they are 30-0.
-
reclegend22I'd rather spend the rest of my life building an 800-foot tall statue of Kevin Bacon than watch Joe Lattas play one more second of basketball.
To answer your original question, though, absolutely not. -
JesterDuke,OSU, and the other top teams better watch out. Cleveland State just curbstomped powerhouse West Virginia Tech. Yes that's right. West Virginia Tech. lolz
-
Con_Alma11-0

Cleveland BuckUnless the Vikings can beat West Virginia, they likely have to win the Horizon to make the NCAA, but I wouldn't rule that out. Butler isn't as good as they were last year, and CSU is much better. I would love to see them get in again. Their win against Wake Forest a couple years ago brought back memories of their 1986 Sweet 16 run.
-
CinciX12Butler is now in a position to where they have to win the conference tournament as well to get in. If they do not beat Stanford here coming up, which is nothing to brag about even if they do, they won't even have another opportunity to beat a big 6 school.

DTM04Vikings improved to 15-1 with two dominating wins over the Horizon League Chicago schools this weekend. Seems Cleveland State is getting better as the season goes along, as they coasted to a pair of 20+ point victories. Norris Cole continues to play extremely well and the Vikings pressure defense is forcing opponents into some high turnover totals. CSU is on the road this weekend with a huge game at Butler on Friday. A road win in Hinkle Fieldhouse may push the Vikings into the top 25.

hoops23I always like to see CSU do well.
-
sportchamppsThe Horizon league plays some good basketball as well
-
wildcats20Can't hate on C State since they were the reason for me getting floor seats at the Dean Dome.

Not after what just happened to Butler. 24 point loss to UW-M? Not good for the HL in general to have your best team like that fall on its face. -
DTM04Butler's loss elevates Cleveland State to the league favorite heading into the main portion of conference play. Definitely was not a good loss for Butler.
