darbypitcher22wow thats insane... any talk of moving the game or postponing it? that doesn't look like it will be a good track even when the tarp is taken off of it
-
Con_AlmaI have never seen a body of water that deterred the Navy!
There is a very large, organized tailgate party that's in a bit of trouble. Organizers are scrambling. I am hearing that the tent areas of Qualcomm parking lot are flooded and they may have to bus people to the game with lack of parking. -
Con_AlmaOn another note it was just announced that Navy Senior Captain and quaterback Ricky Dobbs has won the 2010 Lowe's Senior Class Award.
"Record-setting Navy quarterback Ricky Dobbs has been selected as the 2010 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award winner in the Football Bowl Subdivision. The announcement and trophy presentation were made today by Lowe's, an official corporate partner of the NCAA®, during Navy's alumni and fan gathering at the USS Midway Museum in San Diego. The Midshipmen will play San Diego State December 23 in the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl.
The award, chosen by a nationwide vote of Division I football head coaches, national media and fans, is given annually to the most outstanding senior student-athlete in the NCAA's Football Bowl Subdivision. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence - community, classroom, character and competition.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
"It was a blessing to just be nominated for the award, and to actually win it is beyond belief. I would like to thank all the Midshipmen, Naval Academy staff, alumni and fans that took the time to vote for me and the selection committee for picking me," Dobbs said. "This award would not have been possible if not for God, my family and my teammates and coaches at the Naval Academy."
Dobbs will graduate from the Naval Academy this spring with a degree in general science. He is active in his church, speaks to local youth groups and works at football camps in both Annapolis and his hometown of Douglasville, Georgia.
"We are ecstatic that Ricky Dobbs has won one of the most prestigious awards in all of college football," Navy head coach Ken Niumatalolo said. "The Lowe's Senior CLASS Award recognizes everything that is good about college athletics and Ricky embodies everything the award stands for: community, classroom, character and competition."
As a senior, Dobbs amassed more than 2,000 total yards of offense, scoring 13 rushing touchdowns and passing for 12 more as he led Navy to a 9-3 record. As a junior, Dobbs set an NCAA record for rushing touchdowns scored by a quarterback in a single season with 27. He was named an honorable mention all-American for his efforts.
"The service academies always embrace candidates for this award and actively encourage fan voting and support, so it's gratifying to see Navy's Ricky Dobbs win the football award this year," said Tom Lamb, Lowe's senior vice president of marketing. "But what is even more special is that Ricky is a person of such high character that he has earned the respect of everyone he has come in contact with throughout his fabulous career.""

The water is flowing to the river and streets near the Stadium are now open. There's even have traffic in both directions!krambman;610414 wrote:Navy should definitely have an edge since it looks like this game is going to be played in the water.
...
Several sump pumps should handle it. Looks like the game will go on.
""The San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl will kick off as scheduled at 5:06 p.m., Thursday, December 23rd. City of San Diego and bowl officials are working together to insure the field will be ready for play. Due to water in the parking lot and a reduced number of parking spaces, fans are encouraged to arrive early for the game and consider using the San Diego Trolley. The parking lot opens at 11 a.m." - Bruce Binkowski, Executive Director, San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl ." -
Con_AlmaGame day.
My heart says Navy.
My head says SDSU 35-31. -
darbypitcher22that field is going to be swamped...
and I'll just say now, I'm one Buckeye who wishes we had Ricky Dobbs as our QB right now instead of the one we have -
MulvaLooks like Navy decided to play this game without their secondary.
-
darbypitcher22Navy just has to hang around and actually do something with a possession when they get a stop. The score certainly changes things here as they get into the half and I believe they have the football coming out
-
Con_Alma21-14 SDSU at the half
Typical Navy game. They have their hands full defensively. They knew that coming in.
They need to stay the course on offense and mix their coverages more in the defensive secondary. Bend but don't break is fine if you have enough speed and don't miss tackles.
We'll see what DC Buddy Green has in the second half. -
darbypitcher22they need to stop #80. Seems like the dude has about 15 catches already

Con_Alma;609027 wrote:Navy's Defensive Coordinator takes a bend but don't break approach to pass coverage forcing everything underneath with lots of help over the top. This Aztec offense and receiving corp will be a big challenge for the defensive backs of the Midshipment. It is the best group all year they have faced.
"...Vincent Brown and DeMarco Sampson have combined to be one of the top wide receiver duos in the nation. Only Hawaii has two wide receivers that combine for more receiving yards per game. Brown averages 98.92 receiving yards per game and has caught 61 balls for 1,187 yards and nine touchdowns. Sampson is right behind with 97.92 receiving yards per game on 65 balls for 1,175 yards and eight touchdowns. ..."

darbypitcher22I know he's a good player. I guess they figure give him his, but when the ball gets in his hands he has a dangerous explosive ability to do something
-
Con_AlmaThe fastest guy on Navy's team is their backup QB...next year's starter...Kris Proctor. They don't have speed in their secondary...and it's showing.
-
darbypitcher22I really like Dobbs... if they can put together a drive here that ends in some points it changes the complexion of the game
-
darbypitcher22didn't like the 3rd down play call from Navy going in there.... and now SDSU is moving the football at will
-
Con_AlmaThe Aztecs controlled the line of scrimmage all night and pickedt apart Navy's defensive secondary. Great job showcasing what's going on out in San Diego. Congrats to the Aztecs.
The seniors at Navy will go down as the winningest class in school history. A great 4 year run for them beating Notre Dame three times and going 4-0 against Army. Bravo Zulu Mids. -
TiernanCon...just heard from the kids, disapointing game but they said everyone was having alot of fun and they all went to LaJolla afterwards to a couple of great clubs full of Navy people and wrapped it up around 4:00am.
-
Con_AlmaGlad to hear. Even more glad that many sailors were able to attend the game that normally may not have been able to .
