Matta doesnt know everything there is to know about basketball and doesnt always make the right decisions. This could be or could not be one of those times. To simply dismiss the thought because OSU is ranked #2 is dumb.
All great points. I'm not saying Matta is complacent, but if you don't look to keep improving it will catch up with you at some point. I'm not saying Matta should change anything, but OSU can play better than they have, so why not discuss things that may make them better? -

To ASSume Matta hasn't contemplated, mulled over, pondered the pros and cons, reflected upon thoroughly, the best possible player rotation is what IS dumb.Laley23;590759 wrote:Thats the luxury fans have. Discussing "things" on here is fun, but will have absolutely no impact on "making them better".
The issues that would "make them better" eminate from the Freshman's inexperience. Freshmen assists to turnovers 40-43 vs upperclassmen's 60 to 36. Thomas' 3-point shooting percentage, the lowest on the team and Sullinger learning to use ball fakes, since he's having so many shots blocked. -

It appears your ugly mouth only wants one sided discusssions. Get under it, immature teenie. -

Makes me want to LOL.
You mean like you're doing now, to those who have a differing opinion from yours? Yep that is dumb. -
thedynasty1998It's quite comical when people criticize someone for an opinion they might have. This is a message board, where people go to express opinions.

Im sure he has mulled it over. I never said he hasnt. But he hasnt changed, and that may or may not be right call...thats all Im saying. -
JesterWell since some think we can't question/discuss anything Matta does throughout the season, how about you give us a list of what we can and can't discuss Big Gain. Since you know, you seem to be the one that thinks you have to tell people what they're allowed to talk about.

Sounds fair -
centralbucksfanOh quit your F'ing whining about what can and cannot be discussed. You sound like a bunch of little high school girls! lol Its comical! Nobody EVER said you coudnt' discuss it. Some just said your wasting your time and beating a dead horse. I have been pretty much on the money because I can see and understand how Matta coaches. Its not that I agree with every move he does, I don't. But I also really don't think its worth beating something OVER, and OVER and OVER again when it does no good, and wont' change.
So go ahead and do what you want. But I'll sit here and tell you as I said with Diebler, that its not going to change and some better learn to accept it.
Lastly, think and believe what you will...but the old saying that if it an't broke, dont' fix it...goes a LONG ways quite often. Its often the coaches who overcoach who get themselves in trouble more often then not. The KISS method often works well. -
thedynasty1998Again, this is a message board, a place where people are going to express their opinions.

None of us are saying Matta will or should change, simply having a discussion on whether or not WE believe it could have an impact. That's what fans do, we discuss our teams, sometimes ad nauseaum.centralbucksfan;591361 wrote:Oh quit your F'ing whining about what can and cannot be discussed. Okay cool. That's great. We get it that you don't think Matta will change anything. Well, WE still want to discuss it. If you think it'd stupid or beating a dead horse or whatever it is, why do you continue to post about it? Why not just let us discuss it, and have no part of it? Seems simple enough to me. I see people discuss things that I don't agree with or would consider "beating a dead horse" all the time on here, but that doesn't mean I go on the threads and tell them they're wasting their time, it's stupid, blah blah blah. If they want to discuss, then they have that right. Who are you, or I, or anyone else on here for that matter, to tell people what to discuss?centralbucksfan;591361 wrote:Oh quit your F'ing whining about what can and cannot be discussed. Big GainFor any of you Matta doubters, please answer this. Why does god Izzo start Austin Thorton over anybody????
-
Big GainEXACTLY.....it's hilarious when some don't want CBF and et.al. I take the opposite opinion of others? The majority opinion, not the minority opinion.

PLEASE quote where someone said you can't have an opinion, or express it. Reading your put downs it sure sounds like you don't like to hear from anyone supporting Matta's position.Jester;591216 wrote:Well since some think we can't question/discuss anything Matta does throughout the season, how about you give us a list of what we can and can't discuss Big Gain. My opinion too?? Why is there always so much angst when someone supports the status quo? -

I couldn't agree more, it's hilarious for someone to question those for agreeing with Matta. My opinion, which I have been expressing. -

Who said I, or anyone for that matter, was "doubting" Matta? Nobody is saying he's a horrible coach. For christ sake, all were saying is keep mixing things up to try and improve the team. Just because they're #2 in the nation doesn't mean they should settle. Always strive to improve the team. We get it, you think Matta shouldn't change that. You've stated it many times. If you don't have anything else to add, then gtfo and let us discuss.Big Gain;591855 wrote:For any of you Matta doubters, please answer this. Why does god Izzo start Austin Thorton over anybody???? -

And we get it as you think Matta should change something. You and others have stated it. So quit your damn whining and gtfo. Unfortunatley for you and others...we have some good stuff to back up our arguement. You just have a "wish". -
JesterWhy the hell do people get so uptight when someone questions a coach? I mean jesus tits, people do it every day. From what I understand, most people that don't want to see any changes made are the ones who think Matta knows all, and they shouldn't make changes simply because they're ranked number 2. Guess what, Matta does not, I repeat, does not, know everything. I'm sure he makes mistakes from time to time. And i'm not saying I know more than him or anything either, but to just simply be satisfied with where the team is simply because they are ranked #2 is a poor argument. Hell, i've seen people on here constantly say that rankings this early quite frankly don't mean a damn thing, so why even bring up that OSU is ranked #2? Let's not mention the fact that they've played 2 quality teams, and a bunch of JV teams. If you want to find the best rotation for this team, the time to do it is now. A coach should never be complacent with where his team is. He should always strive to improve the team. If that means trying Craft at the starting PG slot, then so be it. Give it a couple games and see how it goes. No harm done.

AutomatikHow about agree to disagree and let the thread die.
We gotta get fired up for the mighty IUPUI Jaguars tomorrow! -

Ahhh, but you are doubting. You're doubting that he hasn't spent weeks or months considering what the best player rotation would be, hasn't spent hours upon hours discussing with his assistant coaches what the best player rotation could be, that he hasn't had many personal and team discussions with the players as to why the player rotation is what it is. Wouldn't you, as head coach, spend an enormous amount of time in determining what the best player rotation ultimately is going to be. I am quite sure if the need arose there would be a change. Until there's a well thought out need for change, qua sara sara.
ROFL.....We should GTFO so you could talk to yourself about the the exact same thing. You NEED a differeing opinion or you DO NOT have a discussion. What you have is a broken record, repeating itself over and over and over ad nauseum. -
Big GainWho cares what's said on here about a #2 ranking and change. I'm damn sure there is ABSOLUTELY NO DISCUSSION amoung the coaches and players concerning their ranking and why they practice and play the way they do.
-
Jester
Yes, i'm sure Matta has thought about it. Maybe even tried it in practice. But as a player, I know there is a BIG difference, between practice and actual game competition. Things that work in practice against players that may never see the floor may work there, but not necessarily when it's crunch time in a big game. I mean honestly, what harm could be done by trying Craft at starting PG against teams like IUPUI, Western Carolina, or Florida Gulf Coast? It's not like it's going to cost them the game. If it works well, then great, you may have just found a way to improve the team. If it doesn't work, then you just keep bringing Craft in off the bench.Big Gain;593221 wrote:Ahhh, but you are doubting.
