Chris Spielman on Wolverines: 'I don't know how they got this bad on defense'
-
WriterbuckeyeYep. He's not polished so people nit and pick on HOW he does things (or looks) rather than what he says.
During a game, he's usually spot on in his analysis of what is happening on the field. That is the primary job of an analyst and he does it very well. It's also why he has moved from ESPN's third or fourth announcing team to one of its top two. Even the dolts at ESPN recognize a good football analyst when they see one...although one could argue that with Herbstreit on their top crew, that might nullify what I just wrote.
In any case, I think he does a great job of breaking down games while they are in progress.
As for his radio show...meh. I've only listened a couple times and was unimpressed. -

Chris Spielman is a genuine Buckeye Living Legend and a very good football analyst. U da Man #36.
Tell the CEO of Chase that for the guy who showed up without showering. Spielman the man, is to be admired. But that doesn't mean he's a good analyst. -
bo shemmy3337Even though I agree with him on this particular point he is a horrible announcer IMO.
-
vball10sethe doesn't sugarcoat his opinion, doesn't subscribe to political correctness, and he knows his shit..the bottom line is I like listening to him, so I guess that's all that matters....#36 rocks!!!

0311sdpSpielman, as was said above does sometimes let his emotions get the best of him, but I like him as as analyst and consider him one of the more knowledgeable ones (if not one of the more polished ones) He is like a lot of Buckeye fans (myself included) we want Michigan to be good again because it's good for the rivalry and good for the Big Ten and college football in general, It's frustrating to see what RichRod has done to a once proud football power. The defense has steadily gotten worse in each of his seasons there. You can blame his coordinators if you want but who hired them, and as Spielman says where are the athletes? I agree with him there are not very many studs on that side of the ball. Who recruited these guys? RichRod is the answer (as was John Cooper at OSU) to what's wrong with Michigan.

WriterbuckeyeHonestly, I could care less about the state of scUM's football program.
If Ohio State pounds them 100 times in a row, I can only hope I live a freakishly long life and get to enjoy every beat down.
I sure didn't hear any UM folks lamenting things when Cooper was losing regularly to them. In fact, they laughed about it every chance they got, and looked forward to the next win. Then their coach started talking about how OSU wasn't even their "real" rival, anymore.
Like I said: I hope we pound them for the next 100 years, and the lose very other game they play. -
ricola^^ well said. Agree 100%!

Exactly...people are pussies if they can't take some verbal abuse when their team is sucking -

Michigan's defense is horrible. One of the worst I've ever seen. What exactly was he off-base about? -
skankthedynasty1998;573721 wrote:Actually have to agree with HB on this, I have no idea how Spielman has the job that he has, not only with ESPN, but also on 97.1. He's really hard to listen to at times. And honestly, he's not even "presentable". Every time they show him in a booth I fear that his shirt is going to be untucked, or he's going to have a dirty looking beard. He just comes off very sloppy. I know it's not a big deal, but you expect some professionalism from the guys doing the games, and for whatever reason, I always feel like Spielman lacks it.
I fear spiders and snakes. -
dazedconfusedhas rodriguez given any indication in the past that he cared about recruiting defensive players? it seems to be becoming a trend with him
