Joe Lunardi has Gonzaga winning the title. A lot of Duke making the Final Four/NC predictions. Everyone has Kyle Singler as the Player of the Year. -
Hb31187Jeeze they ALL think Singler will be POY?
I Hope thats not the case -
namod65Doug Gottlieb must be getting his weed from Illinois at the moment...

Who do you think will win it? I don't think there are many who wouldn't say Singler is the favorite to win POY this year.Hb31187;560326 wrote:Jeeze they ALL think Singler will be POY?

namod I agree but there is always that sleeper team.
As for Duke 9 out of 10 have them making it back to the finals and 7 out of those 9 have them winning it all again. -

Id agree hes probably the front runner. Just surprises me everyone picked him because usually there's 3 or 4 people who go outside the box with their guess on these type of things.
And I just hope he doesnt win it because I cant stand Duke -

Duke will play all their games on national TV......people will see him alot.
Best all around game on a team that the media sucks off* -
Prescottduke has more scorers, depth and size this year. Singler's numbers might fall a little because he will get fewer opportunities.
Jimmer Freddette will put up big numbers and could steal the award if the East Coast bias doesn't kill him. -
Big Gain8 of the 10 have Florida Winning the SEC. LOL If that's the case the SEC is terrible. Ask them after what Ohio State did to Florida and they'll be scratching their heads for another team.
-
Cleveland BuckThe SEC isn't anything special. Florida ought to be able to compete for the conference title. I hope they do.

wildcats20Not a good start for Singler tonight...
8 points on 3/11 shooting in 29 min(most of any Dookie) against a bad, bad Miami team.
OK, maybe not "bad, bad" but they are no good. -
reclegend22Singler definitely got off to a slow start in the Miami game and never really picked up (scoring-wise). But you can attest that to Duke's guards (namely Dre Dawkins and Seth Curry) really getting into a flow and Singler not needing to be the go-to option. As others have mentioned, Duke is sickly loaded in the wing-scorer department. For this reason, he doesn't even have a chance to sniff J.J. Redick or Jason Williams-like scoring numbers (Duke's last two Players of the Year). And nor does he have to.
But he'll have his fair share of big games and will likely be in the running near the end of the season for top player honors. There's a reason "Larr-y Bir-d ... Larr-y Bir-d" rings throughout my household each time Kyle knocks home another 18-foot step-back. And that reason is partly because I'm sick. But he's the smoothest college forward, with regard to the all-around game, I've seen since Battier and that's damn high praise, whether you detest Duke or not.
Do I think Singler will win it? Right now, I'm saying no. But only because his scoring numbers might not be where some others' are due to Duke's great balance. -

You know my feelings on Singler....
And really I was just giving a little ribbing to the Dookies. Obviously he will have some down games. -
reclegend22I know, Wildcats. But there really is a good chance Singler doesn't win the award. Primarily, in my view, due to the fact that Duke has too many weapons for Singler to put up the numbers traditionally associated with players of the year. But if Kyle can keep at his 17 a game pace like last year, he'll certainly have a shot, but, again like last season, might fall short. (This Duke fan is not complaining, mind you, that Duke is perhaps too powerful from top-to-bottom for Kyle to win an award.) But also because there a few other really excellent players out there, including Nolan Smith. Don't be surprised if Smith outnumbers Singler this season and becomes the Dukie with the best shot at POTY honors. I think it really could happen.
And the detest comment wasn't aimed at you. It was just in general, in case you thought otherwise. Even though I know you hate Singler probably as much as I wish Hansbrough would've drowned in that pool. -
I drain 3'slol at Butler being labeled as a "sleeper"
How can you be nationally ranked going into the season and a sleeper at the same time? -
reclegend22Butler being a sleeper is like calling the Florida Marlins a sleeper during the winter of '03. Pretty stupid, I agree. Lol.

.
Agree with this. His numbers could certainly fall off a bit with the balance/talent they have. -
wildcats20A darkhouse for POY could be McCamey from Illinois. He's obviously having a nice night tonight, but I remember last year him going pretty much head to head with ET.
-
reclegend22If Gonzaga can actually pull out some of its big games (they have a tendency to be very good, but stay close and not win the really key games), then Steven Gray has a real chance for POY. Against a very, very talented and Steve Fisher coached SDSU club, Gray was impossible to stop. I haven't seen a scorer like that in college since Durant, and before that not since Morrison and Redick.
A huge win or two in the CBE and a Bulldog finish in the Top 15 might be enough to elevate Gray to the award. He's that good, I think. -
wildcats20Forgot about Gray. Dude is a stud also.
