    Meaningless games are not meaningless with you have this many frosh who need to learn how to play. And those games will get those guys the experience they need to play in the bigger games. Thomas will play, mark it down. And I think Siebert, although not a lot, will earn some time as well. And I wouldn't even count out L. Smith either once he has had more practice time from his injury. We'll see.

    Still though, 8 turnovers is a great stat. Even when they were breaking the press, they weren't making dumb passes that lead to turnovers.

    Craft led the team in turnovers with 3. Almost half of the team's 8.


    For a frosh PG playing in a big game, his 2nd game of his career, against a pressing/ pressure defense...still pretty damn good.
    He also had 5 assists. That's almost 2-1. Can't be mad at that

    In last year's "meaningless games" how many players did Matta play? How many did he play once the Big Ten season started?

    I never realized how completely lost you are when it comes to sports, until tonight. There are ZERO meaningless games for freshman. Craft played point for 29 mins, handling the ball much more than anyone else. He had two turnovers in garbage time on charges that were questionable at best.

    Buford had 8 assts. Craft had 5. Buford got many of those as the outlet man on the press after Craft broke it.

    Come on, your smart enough to realize that after Simmons, there was NO ONE ELSE to turn too! And even Simmons was a stretch at times. Matta has talent he can turn to on the bench now. He didn't have any talent on the bench last year.

    That was it, Buford 8 assists 1 turnover. Craft 5 assists 3 turnovers.

    That's why I think Ohio State will be much better this year. Turner/Matta thought for the team to be successful last year, Turner had to have the ball in his hands too much, doing too much, for the team to be successful.

    This year won't be that way. More of a team...total team effort....all 5 can shoot and pass and shooting and passing when that's what's called for.

    2 questionable charges and 1 catch and shoot in the corner that he was called for travelling. I'll take those turnovers against the pressure he saw tonight. He is just what this team needs.

    Oh STFU. All we are doing is breaking down and discussing the game. I am ELATED with tonite. I never thought OSU would go in and do what they did tonite..especially after the first half. But that doesn't mean they were perfect and we are allowed to chat about that, aren't we? lol

    The comments on Sully's defense were more observations, not condemnations. I'm guessing for many of us, this was our first real good look at Sully. He does need to work on his defensive positioning, and that in no way diminishes what he accomplished tonite.

    He was getting caught out of position a few times on defense.....it was pretty obvious.

    I never realized how completely lost you are when it comes to meaningless games. Games against directional schools are meaningless when compared to playing Florida on the road. Games against directional teams are good for Freshmen to get on the court. Be sure to let me know how many minutes Siebert averages in Big Ten games.

    BIG TIME BIG MEN in high school and AAU ball are rarely if ever asked to playREAL defense. Sully did quite well on D in his first game of significance on a big stage. He is a very good 280# athlete, soft hands and good feet. His defense will improve more than anyone on the roster over the span of season.

    Lol....point me to where I said Siebert would get meaningful minutes in Big 10 play. ALL games are meaningful for the freshman, it may not turn into big minutes this year, but these are the kids that OSU will be leaning on in the future. Every opportunity they get to play in a division I college basketball game can only help them. I don't know how you can even debate that. This next month will allow OSU to gain more continuity by getting more familiar w/ one another. Players can maximize their own talents by knowing the talents of their teammates. Familiarity and chemistry will go a long way with a team as talented as OSU.

    I agree. He will improve, because it's not a matter of physical ability or IQ. It's simply a matter of learning how to position himself against D1 big men.

    Sully played much better defense in the 2nd half. Then again, the Buckeyes as a team did. They picked up for one another and didn't give up on their man (leaving players to chose between leaving their guy or staying put leading to layups.).

    Craft was impressive. His turnovers were non bad decision turnovers (bad pass, etc). He traveled when he tried to square up for the 3 pointer and 2 charges and the one was really weak.

    Overall I was impressed but I am concern about our depth.

    FWIW, does Lighty have a 6th year available, that guy is the glue.

    A convincing road win for sure. I'd say that will raise a lot of eyebrows around the country. The freshmen are real difference-makers as we all thought and the upperclassmen played like upperclassmen. I'm looking forward to a nice ride this year.

    Never did I expect someone to say that to CBF. The guy is the biggest OSU homer (and I don't mean that negatively). He always sees the good, and rarely the bad. So whatever his comments were, I'm sure he meant it more as an observation than anything else.

    With that said, Vernon Macklin is a very good player. Great size and athleticism and is really good around the rim. I doubt Sullinger sees anyone better than him the rest of the regular season.
