Pete Carroll not making any friends with Rick Neuheisel

Lol arguing with a buckeye fan is like arguing with a brick wall sometimes.
Up 23 with 1st team offense in the 4th quarter throwing a TD=Okay
Up 14 with 1st team offense in the 4th quarter throwing a TD = unacceptable

Lol so Neuheissel jabs at Carrol and Carrol returns with a knockout punch. Why even start it in the first place by calling timeout just to annoy USC

Well then, go argue with the ESPN people as they were saying "whats wrong with Pete Carroll" on the highlights show this morning.

Get overyourself...it was a classless move no matter how you want to twist it.

Maybe he took a TO to get a few seniors in the game or something of that nature

Exactly. No one knows why he took the timeout. The camera was on him, and it sure didn't like he had any intent to rub it in USC. On other hand, USC does what they do, and then celebrate like it was a game winner. Just makes them look like the asses that many thought they were.

Maybe Pete wanted Damian Williams to score one more TD in his last game at the Coliseum or something of that nature

Some interesting quotes from people involved in the game...

"You're either competing or you're not," USC coach Pete Carroll said. "We've been saying it for years. We've been living it for years. If you really believe in competing, if you really do, you'll understand it."

UCLA linebacker Reggie Carter said "I don't take offense. If we were winning, I would have done the exact same thing. I still shook hands with everybody on that team."

"Our job is to cover, and they have every right to throw deep," Neuheisel said. "People can make their own conclusions. Our job is to stop the play. ... I don't blame them for doing it."

Ucla had all 3 timeouts left. They could have gotten the ball back if they used them all. USC took a knee to run out the clock. UCLA called timeout which obviously signaled they still thought they had a chance down only 2 scores. USC put it away. Don't blame them a bit. Lou Holtz did the same thing to Navy back in '94 or '95. Only he(Mirer) faked taking a knee after the timeout and threw the td pass up 48-7. The LA Times loves Nueheisel and UCLA and even they are blaming Nueheisel for the entire incident. Called him a spoiled brat.

LMAO...and if you watched both sidelines after the game, you would know those comments are nothing but total BS, typical lines that were given.

I don't see anything wrong with the moves by either side, but if anyone is to blame it is UCLA.

They apparently still thought they could win. USC took 1 play to prove otherwise.

    Agreed on the first part.

UCLA takes a timeout and think they have a chance still. Why shouldn't USC go for the knockout punch?

Like other posters have said, many OSU fans complaining on this thread and they were throwing for tds up 23 with their first team offense in against teams this year in the late 2nd half
Hb31187 wrote: Yes yes there is, OSU fans being hypocritical. Going at Carroll calling him classless and what not. When hes up 2 scores and throws a td pass? How is that any different then the OSU situation? Explain that and ill leave it be.

Lol you honestly think it was to do anything but to try to piss Carroll off and prolong the game? If it were some random team then i may give you the benefit of the doubt...But its a rivalry game. To call the timeout and prevent your opponent from ending the game in a sportsmanlike manner is just as unsportsmanlike, and im glad it blew up in Neuheisels face.

Guys, I think there is a key element that makes a huge difference.

When Tressel was throwing late in the 4th quarter he wasn't making any secrets of the fact that they were trying for a td.

Pryor obviously needed the work and it isn't as if OSU took a knee on the play before. Once the td was scored, you didn't see any hooting and hollering on the sidelines.

Carroll and USC did take a knee and they did hoot and holler on the sideline.

That being said, I don't have a problem with what Carroll did. It's hilarious IMO.

It's the type of thing I do when playing Madden. I'm up 4 TD's and just trying to kill the clock when the CPU calls timeout. In fact, that was my reaction when I heard UCLA called timeout. I said to myself, "If this were Madden, I'd throw a bomb." The difference is...I'm not playing against real people.

There are two ways to look at it:
    1. When UCLA called the timeout, they must have felt they could still win the game. You can't fault USC for putting the game away in that case.
    2. It was poor sportsmanship all around. UCLA had no business calling a timeout and USC had no business throwing the bomb.

I know which one I think it was. Everybody else can have their own opinion.
