Huge Commit for Tom Crean and the Hoosiers!

6-8, 220 PF Hanner Perea. Ranked as a 5* and #10 by Rivals, class of 2012. This is the kid that was the center of the recent Baylor controversy.

Hopefully this leads the way for 5* C Cody Zeller to make his choice (between Indiana and UNC...and I guess Butler) in the coming days (speculation says IU leads, and he will announce around the signing period of November 8-10) and Yogi Ferrel who is another 5* PG in 2012.

After that, Indiana would have 1 scholarship to hand out (the oversign), presumably being held for 5* 2G Gary Harris or 4* SF Jeremy Hollowell (both 2012).

Looks and sounds like good stuff for the IU program. But its got to happen on a consistant basis. Some top notch recruits are still leaving the state. Not sure Crean has built up a barrier quite yet. But its a start and a good one. Having IU good again, with the others who have been good could really shoot the Big Ten into being elite on a consistant basis. Its all good.

The top talent isnt really leaving the state for 2011 and beyond (thus far). DSR for 2012 is at X and Michael Chandler in 2011 is also at X...but Indiana only has 1 scholly for 2011 and its held fro Zeller. For 2012, well that was gonna be impossible to keep it all in-state. Im not sure ND, Purdue, and IU had enough schollys combined to keep that whole class in state. If Indiana fills out 2012 with Ferrell and Hollowell/Harris they will have a 5 man class of Indiana kids. 2012 was always going to have guys leave because there were about 15 kids in the top 150.

Pete Jurkin is at UFCA in North Carolina, but like many Africans he came over via Mark Adams and the A-HOPE program, based in Bloomington, where he lives in the summer. So I consider those guys Indiana kids, despite where they are placed in the program after.
