USA Today Poll 10/31

I'm not a Boise nut hugger at all. I just simply believe there should be a playoff. We don't know for a fact Boise couldn't hang with Alabama or any of the other big name schools. Why shouldn't they be given a shot? Why is a playoff system so hard to fathom for some people? Every other sport has a playoff.

It would appear as most of the voters feel they wouldn't be able to survive as they have within a "good" conference, I happen to agree with that.

Don't get me wrong, they're a damn good team, just not deserving of a title shot imo.

If they go unbeaten, go to say the Fiesta Bowl, play say Nebraska and destroy them, would you feel they could would deserve a title shot?

No, only because I feel the members of AQ conferences have a more rigorous go of it week to week. It's not their fault per se', but if they do get the title shot, you'll definitely see teams dropping big OC games that they actually have needed in years past. I would hate to pear down scheduling to have a better shot at getting to the title game. They should have to step it up, not the rest of college football step it down. IMO of course.

I should say AQ sans the Big East though ;)

That's where I can't decide about them. That scenario is possible. Heck they did it to Oklahoma. I just think that if ANY team only had to get up to play a powerhouse once, maybe twice a year, they could hang with them. It's the whole grind of playing in power conferences that I'm pretty sure Boise couldn't do. I don't hate Boise, but I don't think they deserve a title shot playing through their conference. Especially if you leave out teams like Alabama and Auburn who play great teams week in and week out.

The bottom line is that we don't know how they would fair playing in a different conference. Give them a shot in the title game and if they get blown out by Oregon or Bama then we can close the case but until then they should consider a playoff to prove who is the best team.

Play-off is simply a tough nut to crack. No one has presented a business model that pays the same folks equal or more money. That's what it will take.

...and having not played who Bama and Auburn played disqualifies them from "deserving" status.

We should all lobby to have the NFL follow this genius plan. Teams that play in the weakest conference and division do not qualify for the playoffs. They should drop out of their conference or division and step it up and actually play someone.

And Auburn looked better in their win than Boise did against La Tech.

That said, I'm a huge Boise fan, it is just they need to be crushing people and not giving up 20 points to La Tech. If Boise beats Hawaii and Nevada in a decent fashion and Auburn loses, Bosie is good to go to the title game.

    Ole Miss = La Tech.

C'mon, people need to stop rationalizing. Ole Miss lost to Jacksonville St. La Tech could and is very capable of beating a very average Ole Miss team.

Do you have a link for this claim or is this just pure speculation?

its kind of what I expected things to look like. Wasn't sure that Utah would stay pat after squeaking out a 5 pt win over Air Force, but pretty much what I expected.
