What was the Notre Dame bet?

  • Manhattan Buckeye
Candidate for "What were you thinking" on gameday next week. R. Lee Ermey doesn't even need to get the guys fired up....what were you thinking Brian Kelly?

    1000x yes.

You don't know what the point of that play was, Kelly looked right at him and said "don't throw that pass."

There will be plenty of "fire kelly" folk out tonight, regardless.

love when our coach puts the game in the hands of a freshmen quarterback to make a 18 yard touchdown pass instead of trusting a kicker who's made 18 straight kicks to make a dead centered 35 yarder...

    What are you, 13?

    Speechless.

You have a good kicker, a true freshman qb getting his first playing time..even if you tell them not to throw that pass, you still cannot call that play. Freshman are going to make mistakes.

No, sorry, but I think your coach is with a call like that.

    LMAO!!! Notre Dame sucks.

wow---first of all, it really surprised me that Kelly made the call for a pass play, but his reaction afterward was priceless..did you really think a freshman QB should be put in that position in the first place, with a stud kicker salivating for the opportunity to kick the game winner? come on, BK..this one is totally on you!!!

Things aren't going THAT much better in Ann Arbor, are they?

So what happened with this "terrible playcall"

I didn't watch (obvii) and I cannot find a highlight of the game
  • Fly4Fun
I didn't watch the game... but from what I can gather. They were in "automatic" field goal range for their kicker who is 18/18 for the year. BK called a pass play and the QB threw an INT to ice the game...

And it was within the waning moments of a game and the field goal would have given them the lead and the victory.

    Fly's right.

Tulsa kicked a FG to take a 28-27 lead with time running down in the game. ND...without their starting QB, running back, tight end, and one of their top receivers...drove down and put themselves into field goal range to win. All they had to do was run a running play to get a couple yards to help the kicker and put it where he likes to kick from. Instead, they call a pass play, and Tommy Rees tried to force one in to Michael Floyd streaking into the end zone. But it was picked off, and Tulsa sealed the game.
