All of a sudden a 1 point victory against Iowa puts Wisconsin ahead of OSU. Oklahoma actually falls behind OSU.

I have no problem with Wisc moving ahead of us, they beat the crap out of us so they should be but I get what you are saying.

All of a sudden a victory @ Iowa? Margin doesn't matter in this case.. I'm surprised you can type on your computer with the size of blinders you have on your face LOL -- Cmon.. they have played Mich St, Iowa, and OSU and are 2-1 in that stretch..

Alabama ranked higher than I thought they'd be. Mizzou didn't quite get the jump I thought they would.
  • Cleveland Buck
Wisconsin has the most impressive back-to-back wins of any team this season. There aren't many, if any, other teams that could beat Ohio State and Iowa two weeks in a row. They should arguably be the highest ranked 1 loss team.

Then why not ranked ahead last week after beating us? How was it determined this week that they were better? You must have blinders on to logic if you don't understand my questioning. If weren't ahead after beating us how could they jump when both teams win the next week?
  • rydawg5
If Alabama had played (MSU, Ohio St, and Iowa) the media would be blowing wads in their pants over a 2-1 record with it. Think about it.. they almost blew wads for them playing Ark, Florida, and South Carolina.

First of all Slingshot, they SHOULD have been ranked ahead of us after last week. Math was basically the reasoning. We were #1 and they were #16.. just a large gap.

Secondly, they then GO TO IOWA CITY AND BEAT IOWA ON THE ROAD. The pollsters now, assessing a 1 spot gap that needed corrected anyway, corrected it.

Wisky should actually have gone up maybe even more. Being 2-0 in those back to back games is as impressive as it gets.

Because preseason rankings screwed them over and had them too low and Ohio State too high.. Wisky won two impressive games in a row, while Ohio State lost and then beat up on a crappy Purdue team.

Purdue with injuries was kinda crappy, but only because of all the injuries. They were still 5-1

    5-2, lost to Toledo.

NVM you are right. I guess I dont know what they were

I don't know man. Purdue lost to Notre Dame. And all I've heard on here is how Notre Dame is the worst team to ever step foot on a field. So if THEY beat Purdue...Purdue must be absolutely awful.

I'm just using the reasoning of a few select posters on here.
  • sherm03
    And Purdue is 4-3...not 5-2.

Undefeated Missouri, who just beat the #1 team in the country handily, still behind Utah who has beaten nobody. Ok then...
  • karen lotz
Missouri wasn't even ranked in both polls until week 6 and that same week Utah was #10 in both. Missouri hadn't played anyone until Oklahoma, who was #1 only due to the computers.

    +1

If the roles were reversed and a 16th ranked Ohio State team had upset a then #1 Wisconsin yet the pollsters still put Wisky ahead of OSU, Buckeye fans across the land would have screamed bloody murder.

The way I see it, equilibrium has occurred this week hence the Buckeyes stay at #10 despite pummeling Purdue.

We''ll see what Utah is made of in the next three weeks. AF, TCU and Notre Dame up coming for Utah.

I have no problem with the polls, coaches or AP.
Wisconsin ahead of OSU is the right call. OSU got their ass kicked and Wisconsin should have been ranked ahead of them last week.
Missouri is unbeaten and just beat the number 1 team. They should be ranked in the top 10. We'll see how real they are when they play Nebraska this week.

While I agree that Baylor deserves some recognition, with the exception of squeaking by an OK Kansas State team, the rest of the Baylor line-up is very below average. We'll see if the Bears will get by some very angry Longhorns next week.

Meantime, why the disrespect for Virginia Tech? After losing a close one to Boise State and then puking against James Madison, VT has rolled off 6 straight relatively impressive victories. I think they definitely deserve their current ranking.

As long as they get it right in the last poll, none this other stuff matters. Wisconsin probably should've been ahead of OSU after last week, but OSU was really their one quality win. They definitely deserve it after this week's win, so nobody can really complain about that.

People tend to want polls to work on a week-to-week basis where you're ranking either has a lot to do with only what you did last week or only where you were last week. For it to work, it has to be a weekly evaluation of the overall process. I don't think that happens every week, but again, as long as they get it right in the last poll it is fine. You have to remember that it isn't one person saying, "I think X should be ahead of Y". There are many, many different logics at work and the polls are more or less an average of a lot of different opinions.

If Missouri continues to win, they'll end up ahead of Alabama and Utah. As of right now, they just beat their first real opponent and will pick up some more votes next week whether Utah wins or not.
  • gerb131
Texas is folding badly they lost to Iowa St and it wasn't really even close as the score.
Just don't like Va Tech. Losing to JMU who lost yesterday again to Villanova I think is just putrid. Put someone else in there for gods sake.

I defended Va Tech to an extent on the thread about them, but I know why there's disrespect. Because this ALWAYS happens with them. They always start near the top, always choke against someone crappy, and always work their way back up when they finally get it together. A lot of people would argue that no matter how good you think they are, they shouldn't constantly get the benefit of doubt in both the preseason and/or just because their bad losses end up out of mind by the end of the season. The year LSU beat OSU in the title game, Va Tech was ahead of LSU until the last poll with the same number of losses after losing by like 30 to them.
