Who would get the Rose Bowl bid if Ohio State and Michigan State end up with 1 loss?
-
BlanketSince they dont have the head to head tie break, how would they decide it?
Buckeyes have to be huge Iowa fans next Saturday to keep their hopes of a Rose Bowl bid alive. -
Cleveland BuckIf Ohio State and Michigan State finish tied, whoever is ranked higher in the BCS standings would get the Rose Bowl bid.
If Michigan State, Iowa, and Wisconsin all finish tied, and all of them beat each other, Michigan State would get the bid because they beat Wisconsin and had the better overall record than Iowa. -
BlanketTotally forgot about the BCS standing.

1_beasti may be wrong...but dealing with the Big 10 and Rose Bowl...if there is a tie...the team that is farthest removed from a rose bowl appearance gets the bid...? I think!
-
quaker0764They did away with the longest drought between appearances ruling.

This is my understanding also. -

Con_AlmaThat's too bad. I thought it was a good thing. When did they do away with that??

They use the Big XII system now, I think. Team ranked highest in BCS standings gets the bid.vball10set;522689 wrote:this....and btw, IMO, OSU would get the bid--they travel better,ie bringing in more $$$$$ -

Yeah I agree. The tie breaker would only be for the automatic conference bid. The BCS could select any team they wanted after that, as long as they meet the criteria so OSU would likely be that team.vball10set;522831 wrote:gotcha'...but it's still about the bucks (no pun intended) -
2kool4skoolIf OSU wins out and MSU loses a game, I'd have to think OSU would be higher in the BCS standings.

Shabaka BashaaratWho cares. It is a meaningless game. YAY we won a trophy and some roses!

A meaningless game with a huge payday. -

Would rather play in the Rose Bowl then the Outback Bowl. -
firestonefanI agree with 1 beast.

krambmanIf OSU and Michigan both finish with one loss IF Wisconson also loses another game. Say Iowa beats MSU this weekend, but loses to OSU and Wisconsin. Then the Big Ten Championship would be split three ways and MSU would go to the Rose Bowl (I believe) because Wisconsin beat OSU and MSU beat Wisconsin. As Buckeye fans, we need to be big Iowa fans the rest of the season (except when they play the Buckeye's of course!).

stlouiedipalmaI really don't see anyone else beating Iowa, with the slim possibility of OSU doing that. If that happens the Buckeyes could get the Rose Bowl bid. If OSU doesn't lose again but misses out on the Rose Bowl you can bet that OSU will be coveted by either the Sugar or Orange Bowls. Just think, the Buckeyes against either Boise State or TCU. Losing out on the Nat. Championship game sucks, but I could go for playing one of these teams.
Also, if Oregon goes to the title game then the Big Ten opponent will be determined by the Rose Bowl committee. How about OSU and MSU meeting to settle the score on the field? They'd never do it, but they sure would sell a hell of a lot of tickets. -

Isn't the "who hasn't been there recently" tiebreaker still in effect? If OSU and Michigan both finish with one loss IF Wisconson also loses another game. Nope, they now live in the present when deciding who goes. Here's the link to all of the Rose Bowl tiebreaks.

Y-Town SteelhoundI'll mention it one time since there seems to be a boatload full of posters voyaging towards retard island on this thread.
The tiebreaker is no longer who went to the Rose Bowl last. -

If Oregon goes to the title game and Boise/TCU/Utah qualify for a BCS game, the Rose Bowl has to take that team to replace Oregon this season. -

If Michigan State, Wisconsin, and Ohio State all tie and their overall record is the same (which I think has to happen now in that scenario, right?), then they'd still end up back at the BCS ranking as the determining factor. The three way tie can't be broken with head-to-head results unless one team either beat both of the others or if one team lost to both of the others (in which case would eliminate that team and revert the other two back to the two-team tiebreaker). -

And I think they ditched that about/over a decade ago, though I believe they just added the BCS tiebreaker before this (maybe last?) season.
