Yeesh, worst gameday crowd I can remember.
-
Manhattan BuckeyeWisconsin has such a great campus, couldn't they put it somewhere not inside the stadium?
On the plus side, I don't think Wisky is going to get a bump from gameday being there. -
gerb131Copy that inside the stadium is stoopid. Thats why b-ball gamedays suck too.
-
darbypitcher22I gotta admit, that was pretty awesome seeing the Jump Around (kinda) when they came on the air this morning
-
Manhattan BuckeyeIndeed, all 50 of them (hyperbole), it is just a horrible atmosphere. The ESPN guys are so far away from the kids that you can't see signs (other than the obligatory Washington State signs), you can't really hear them and other than the random cheerleader flip in the background you wouldn't know there were people in the background.
When it comes to picks, R. Lee Ermey should give ESPN/Wisky authorities the "what were you thinking?" You have the #1 team in the country coming in, gameday hosting and you crapped the bed. What were you thinking?! -
Fly4FunAgreed, I was watching this while working out this morning and was just surprised how bad the atmosphere was. It was a horrible decision to put it in the stadium and have the fans so far away.
-
IliketurtlesI also agree that this is pretty terrible. I think doing it inside the stadiums for basketball works because the Arenas are normally pretty small but they shouldnt ever do it inside for football.
-
krambmanI don't know if any of you have been up to Madison for a game, but the stadium is on top of a hill and there's really no room around to set up the stage with the stadium in the background and room for students/fans to gather nearby. Other than inside of the stadium their best location may have been to set up down the street with the capital building in the background if they could have gotten permission. Inside the stadium probably really was the best location. Although inside the stadium doesn't necessarily mean a bad GameDay atmosphere. Did you see GameDay inside of Bronco Stadium in Boise a few weeks ago? It was 7:00am there when GameDay started and that was a great atmosphere.
-
karen lotzGood point about Boise. They had 13,000+ in attendance. I remember seeing a tweet earlier this week from Gameday or Fowler and they were disappointed that the set was going to be in the stadium.
-
Cleveland BuckBoise's stadium is like a basketball arena though. 13,000 people filled half of the stadium. I bet there were at least 13,000 there in Madison, but Camp Randall still looks and sound empty with only 13,000 people in it.
-
Manhattan BuckeyeIt looked to me like they had 3 sections in the bowl open (or I should say, roped off) that didn't extend even to the top. When they showed Desmond Howard there were moments when there were more security guys on screen than fans. The band on the field pretty much mailed it in, and even Corso's headgear moment was anti-climactic.
Compare that to South Carolina last week - as Charles Barkley says, TURRIBLE. -

Bronco stadium holds over 30,000, so they didn't fill half of it. Also, there were maybe 5,000 people in Camp Randall. I don't think that it was the fan's fault that it sucked, but the atmosphere. -
cbus4lifeI'm not all that shocked it sucked, honestly, i've got a few friends up in Madison currently, and they said the students are taking all sorts of heat right now because they show up to games late, leave early, etc., and won't go anywhere if they can't drink while they are there.
