New Uniforms for Notre Dame, Michigan
-
sjmvsfscs08Adidas is stepping up their game a bit and has released new jerseys, the Adidas TECHFIT. Apparently it will reduce weight by 30%, making guys like Denard Robinson and Theo Riddick even faster. I guess the included cleats, the Adizero Scorch, weigh a ridiculously low 8.6oz, compared to Nike's 9.6oz Vapor Jet.

Hopefully Crist's jersey doesn't look so stupid now (by the way he's not black like in the video haha). Notre Dame will begin wearing them immediately, starting against Western Michigan.
Basically, this is Adidas' way of combating Nike's procombat jerseys. Personally I prefer Nike, but it's better than Under Armour. I'm just glad they don't fuck up Notre Dame's jersey with some stupid alternate jersey a la anything Nike has made for their teams. I have a friend in Jim Tressel's class at Ohio State, and apparently Tressel was pretty steamed when they told him they had another procombat for Ohio State. I'm sorta glad Notre Dame is subject to that. -

Compared to Ohio State's procombat. Adidas basically did the same thing but kept a more traditional-looking thigh pad. Wayyyy too huge.
-
OneBuckeyeThose are some gigantic thigh pads

WebFireHaha.
I bet that 1 ounce will bake a huge difference. -

Manhattan BuckeyeTOS, I don't think we need to see moose-knuckles.
-
sherm03I like them a lot better than the current jerseys.
Anything is better than Crist's wings.

I haven't read a lot of Notre Dame threads but every time I watched the domers Crist's jersey annoyed the hell out of me. -
OhioStatePride2003The kid in the commercial plays in Friday Night Lights.

sleeperInstead of worrying about being 30% lighter, maybe they should worry about losing 30% less games.

sjmvsfscs08Zing!

jordo212000F for originality. They just completely ripped off Nike's Pro Combat unis. Although I should say that these are better than Nike's Pro Combats because they actually stay pretty faithful to traditional designs (i.e. they didn't totally bastardize an old uniform in an effort to increase jersey sales)

sjmvsfscs08Well I think it's just Nike being ahead of the curve, but I do essentially agree with you.
As long as they don't fuck up the jersey, I'm fine.
I would like to see an alternate away jersey akin to what Notre Dame wore against Florida in the bowl game in the 1990's. Love the green numbers against the white. -

The thing I don't understand is that Nike always pimps the fact that Pro Combat unis are so much lighter and better to wear, yet the programs only wear them one time per season? That doesn't make sense. If they are better why wear them one week per year? -
Little DannyUC will wearing theirs for the rest of the season, starting this Friday against Louisville.

You have a lot more to worry about than ripping on Notre Dame and Michigan all of the time. Get a real job.
You should probably use "much" and "many" instead of "a lot" though, "a lot" is frowned upon by people who actually know the language. -

So all the other companies should quit making their product better since Nike got it to market first? -

Not what I was saying at all. Just found it funny how nearly everything about Nike's ProCombat was copied. The look, the weight, and even the player model photos. Wasn't very subtle.
However, this is exactly why Nike kicks the crap out of Adidas, etc. every single year. Adidas and the other companies just sit back and react to Nike, when most of the time they should try and make that the other way around -
WebFireAt least Adidas keeps the uniform look. Some of the Pro-Combat are just awful. No way do I want Michigan's uniforms messed with like that.

I have a feeling that this year may be the last year for the goofy special pro combat jerseys. Nike has done this for two years now and if these uniforms are supposed to be superior to their normal uniforms now then teams aren't going to be content any longer to wear them just once a year. I think that next season a lot of the Nike schools will begin wearing their normal jerseys made out of the pro combat material. -
sjmvsfscs08I think you're right krambman, and Adidas' probably only expedited Nike's intentions on that matter.

Agreed 100%. The ProCombat uniform designs are overwhelmingly horrible.
