Damn, not good. Any clue what it is? Academics? Some sort of trouble with the law?

The article says "failure to comply with team rules." Whatever that means lol

He probably failed another drug test.

I'd say this is probably the reason. I don't know for sure though.

The loss of Graves definitely hurts Carolina's depth. I hope the post players can stay healthy because Will was probably going to play a good bit of minutes at the 4.

SMH. Not a great player, but was definitely a solid role player.. Would have fit in even better with the talent coming in this year, especially because he wouldn't have been asked to do as much.

With the losses of Ed Davis and Deon Thompson, who led the Heels in scoring last season, respectively, not returning Will Graves will certainly affect UNC's ability to put points on the board -- especially considering the Heels are going to be so young and dependent upon freshmen. As we've seen in recent NCAA Tournaments, the presence of solid upperclassmen with the ability to put their teams on their backs down the stretch is absolutely essential to win in March. Will Graves, no matter whether he wasn't a "star," or whether he was a mediocre defensive player, or his "chair" wasn't actually as stalwart as he suggested, was UNC's most efficient three-point shooting and, at times, wing scoring option. Simply put, last season when the Heels needed a big shot in, for example, a high-pressure, tension-filled situation against Charleston (CofC 81 UNC 79 -- OT), Graves came up with the big shot. Even as a below-40 percent shooter from beyond the arc, Graves did give Carolina the ability to score, which the team so desperately struggled to do a season ago. That will be missed.

Harrison Barnes will need to be every bit as good as advertised for the Heels to avoid another scary February of not knowing their March fate. I already had my reservations, but, with Graves now out, I don't think the Heels are setting up for that great turnaround season many believed would be the case. While a great class, Carolina's freshmen are not UK's from 2009-10. With an already thin roster of talent (and capable returning scorers), losing a perimeter threat of Grave's weight is going to be noticeable. It will be an interesting season in Chapel Hill, to say the least.

That said, I do feel for Graves, even if he was kicked off due to drug-related offenses. People do make mistakes and, as they say, kids will be kids. Duke has had players in the past who haven't been perfect and have gotten involved in difficult situations. Life only gives you one chance to get it right, and we are imperfect people as it is. Hopefully, Graves has found peace. I can't imagine that burden.

    Well said rec.

And your first paragraph is exactly what I am talking about when I said "this will hurt more than anyone thinks." He only average 10 a game; but like you said, when the Heels needed a big shot, it was his to take.

If my kids ever listed one of those players as their favorite players I would kick their ass. I have taught them better than that.
