Yeah like the one bad coach who raped OSU in the national title game right?

I don't think anyone who watched LSU vs Ole Miss last year would actually try to defend Les Miles' coaching. I also don't think that Les Miles was the reason LSU won the NC game vs OSU.

I left around half time, and now gotta watch the 2nd half to see this crazy ending. I thought Miles was a genius coach until the past 3 seasons. I scratch my head at his time management and his inability to use stud players the way they should be used.

I assume, then, that it is safe to say that those who were including Les Miles in the "better than Jim Tressel" garbage that was circulating through the blogs awhile back aren't so keen on Les anymore? I wish I had saved the actual posts because I figured this would become an issue.

Why was the LSU offensive lineman who ripped his helmet off and slammed it to the ground not penalized? If the refs were doing their job, this guy would have been flagged 15 and Tennessee likely would have won this game!

That's what i asked on the other thread. The play was definitely still going on when he threw his helmet. Shouldn't it be off setting penalties, or is the play considered a dead play once Tenn had 13 guys on the field?

^ After the clock expires and the ball is downed there is no penalty for this, just as there are no excessive celebration penalties. The game was, by the book, over until the referee made the call for 12 men.

The helmet was thrown before the play was over. Even if the clock had reached 0:00, regulation is not over until the play is finished.

LSU is a very good team. One thing people are missing is that Tenn. played right with this top 15 ranked team. Tenn is on the way back they are improving week by week in 2 more season the Vols will be hard to handle.

Yeah, but I was saying he definitely threw that helmet before the play was over. The refs definitely missed that call.

I am going to assume the play was over and time had expired when #53 white threw hit helmet to the ground since 7 bench players from orange, two ball boys, a trainer and half the coaching staff where on the field at that point jumping around.

LSU has been terrible in last minute situations the past couple of years. (The Ole Miss game from last year still makes me laugh)

With that being said, I'm guessing both coaching staffs are getting barbecued on talk radio today in their respective cities

LSU is NOT that good. They have played one decent team (WVU) and the rest have been patsies. They have struggled in every game. Almost losing to a decimated UNC team(many starters suspended) LSU has a nice defense and a horrid offense. Tenn is shit. Yes, getting better. But still NOT good.

    That would be accurate. ;)

Ranked in the top 10, beat 2 teams that were ranked at the time, have played ZERO MAC type schools, have won every game, beat Tenn with 4 turnovers compared to 0 Tenn turnovers. Maybe we should schedule EMU, Ohio, and Marshall to start off our schedule instead of 2 ranked teams and 3 SEC teams.

I was just going to say this. I just saw the replay for the first time (sober) since it happened. If the LSU player is flagged for taking his helmet off during a play, Tennessee is flagged for having the entire team on the field during the play.

Good luck with the ensuing argument.

It wouldn't be the least bit unfair or inappropriate for the poll voters to rank them as if they lost the last game.

Two live ball fouls penalized as dead ball fouls concurrently with each other, guess what, despite being inside the 30 yard line, we end up right back where we started from. Enforce the live ball foul first, then the two "dead ball" fouls offset, LSU has the ball at the one with an untimed down since the first accepted foul was against the defense.

Ya, it's not like LSU schedules McNeese State or Louisiana-Monroe or anything. Oh wait...

And UNC wasn't really a ranked team when you beat them... heck, about half their team was ineligible for that game and it was still pretty damn close. LSU isn't terrible, they have a lot of talent. But they will be a 3-4 loss team... and Les Miles is starting to appear to be a bad coach with time management/end game situations.

They were gifted the win. As a voter, I have no obligation to pretend otherwise. They belong in the mid-teens at best based on performance.
