Austin Rivers Commits To Duke
-
chicago510Huge get for Duke. Coach K winning the title last year and his USA Bball success is certain to end the lack of recruiting that plagued Duke recently.

karen lotzCould this have something to do with his decision???

ironman02Surprise, surprise!
I've seen this coming forever. I never believed for a second that Rivers had interest in anyone but dook after he de-committed from Florida.
Definitely a HUGE pick up for the Blue Devils. Let's hope he's only there for one season. -
Trueblue23Duke is gonna be NASTY.
-
chicago5103 peat? Duke is going to be ridiculous this year and in 2011. Obviously hard as hell to do, but look out.
-
PrescottCoach K decided to go after the "One and Dones".It started with his pursuit of John Wall and continues with this commitment.
-
HeelzI think most Heel fans saw this coming and accepted it months ago.
-
centralbucksfanBig get for Duke. The kid is supposed to be the real deal. More than likely a one and done if he lives up to the hype. Coach K certainly has changed his recruiting tactics. Gotta do what ya gotta do.
-
Laley23Not a surprise. He has basically been committed for months now.

Hb31187From lookin at his highlights...the boy has one ugly jumper. But it goes in and thats all that matters lol

swamisezNice insurance if Kyrie leaves after one year.
CBF made mention of K going after one and done players now.
I don't know if K is specifically targeting these players, I think he is looking for players that would be a good fit at Duke and if they are good enough to leave after one year, then they are. Strangely however, once kids get on campus and experience success they seem to want to stick around (Singler, Smith). Both Irving and Rivers have mentioned that college for them is the fun time of basketball and the NBA is a profession. I think the group K has put together has enabled players to really enjoy their time, and inevitably, stick around longer than expected. -
georgemc80I think its a mistake if Coach K has changed his style. I know these one and dones have changed the game, but looking at past champions, they had more experience than one and dones. Duke won last years title because that group had matured together and used that experience to win six straight to end the year. UNC used loads of experience to win both of their latest titles. Kansas and Florida were led by upperclassmen. UCONN had senior leadership. Maryland, Duke, and Michigan State were all heavy on experience. Syracuse might have been the exception with Carmelo. I see getting one or two on roster at a time, but more than that is not a recipe for tournament success. Freshman in general can't lead a team to a championship.

No but when you mix in a one and done like Irving with Singler, Smith, Plumlee bros, etc. thats pretty damn good. K isn't going all Calipari here and recruiting a whole lineup of Freshman, just adding talent to his experience.georgemc80;510488 wrote:I think its a mistake if Coach K has changed his style.
