Notre Dame fans...I have a question
-
killer_ewokGood point, SJ. And that's why I think it's logical to reserve judgement with a new coach. Rich Rod may end up being another good example if the rest of the season goes well for Michigan.
If ND was 3-1....it wouldn't guarantee future success under Kelly either. -

Noooo but you'd all be spewing a helluva lot more smack than you are now. C'mon admit it - deep down inside y'all know this was just another interim hire until He rises from Gatorland and take his rightful seat next to God.killer_ewok;502471 wrote:...If ND was 3-1....it wouldn't guarantee future success under Kelly either. -

No, not ALL of us would. I can guarantee you that. No doubt some would though.Tiernan;502520 wrote:Noooo but you'd all be spewing a helluva lot more smack than you are now. Oh, and.......Urban Meyer ain't walkin' through that door. And I hope we don't ever have to hope that he will again. -

Not enough playmakers on defense? Well why do they not have the playmakers on defense if thier recruiting is top ten in the entire country? Seems like a contradiction to me?karen lotz;501459 wrote:Figured I would throw those out before the regulars come on here and say it. Everyone says ND can't get top athletes because of strict admission policies. And then there are those that say the recruits that they do get in are overrated by ND homer Tom Lemming. My post was pure sarcasm.
Really though, like its been said already, not enough playmakers on defense. Te'o has been better than last year although he has also missed some very key tackles. Ian Williams has probably been the most consistent player on the team at nose guard. Secondary is thin and was hurt by injuries to 2 of the 4 safeties on the roster. The corners have also been a little dinged. Offensive struggles have a lot to do with learning a new system with a QB who has started 4 (not counting last years Purdue game when Clausen was hobbled with his toe). They have looked unstoppable at times and at others they have looked lost. 2 fumbles inside the 10 yard line also played a very large part in the first 2 losses. -

They have had one top ten class since 2007, which would be players on this team. That highly ranked class is filled with offensive standouts which inflated the ranking. Crist, Floyd, Rudolph and Jonas Gray were all in that class. I would say Floyd and Rudolph have met or exceeded their lofty rankings and Crist will by the time he leaves. I'm sure you don't know this, but he has started 4 games in his career. Weis didn't recruit defensive players like he did offensive players and its pretty apparent for anyone who has actually paid attention. It is obvious that you are one of the guys who watches nothing but OSU games and doesn't have a clue about the rest of college football, yet still comes on here and speaks as if you do. How many of Notre Dame's games have you watched this year? How many did you watch last year? How can you draw any conclusions on improvements/lack there of if you don't watch? -

I have went over before about the superfluous top ten ranking of classes so I will not go over that again here. Why does Notre Dame not have top ten recruiting classes? You mentioned sarcastically that it is not their academic standards. I have posted Notre Dames academic acceptance standards here and it is precisly why they do not have top ten recruiting classes any longer.
I have watched them play Michigan Michigan St and Stanford. Last year I watched about 5 games. I think you might have me confused with someone who dislikes Notre Dame with your blanket statement about watching them play and only watching Ohio St.
I am able to draw conclusions because I do watch, and Notre Dames talent level is not on the elite level any longer, and will never be until they lighten up on who is allowed to play on the team. -
sjmvsfscs08Interesting to note Notre Dame's opponents' record is 14-2 combined and Ohio State's opponents' are 4-11 collectively. I am in no way saying Notre Dame would beat Ohio State of anything of the matter, just be cognizant of the 14-2. It's not like they lost to ol' Stritch High.

sleeperThis thread should just be re-titled, "Notre Dame excuses"
All that talk all summer about how BK is different, how they are going to have a great season, seems to be all lost in obscurity. You'd think after 20 years of losing to piss poor competition you'd have some humility and realize you're mediocre at best, but no, we gotta make insinuations that ND would somehow beat Ohio State.
Well whatever I suppose. Ohio State has a great chance to compete for another National Title while ND will be lucky to go to the Meinke Car Care and Toilet Bowl and play a depleted 6-6 WAC team, but this time instead of barely winning, they will get BLOWN out and domer fans will be telling us how great they will be next year LOL
