Carter was immature, and not cutting it in the classroom, it's not like he was out breaking laws and getting in trouble. There's absolutely no reason why Carter or any other player w/ academic problems shouldn't get a 2nd chance if they get their problems straightened out.

LOL exactly. Now Dynasty thinks he knows Chris Carter and why a PARENT would do something. lol Obviously, he has NO kids and doesn't understand the decisions parents are forced to make and want to make. I said from getgo, kudos to Chris Carter for his decision. It would have been easy to keep Duron at OSU. He chose to put him in the middle of nowhere and teach his kid a lesson. There is NO SPIN to that...those are the facts.

Who is Chris Carter and what does he have to do with this discussion, cbf?? A big OSU homer such as yourself should know its Cris. There is NO SPIN to that...those are the facts.

Hopefully Duron keeps his grades up and dons the Scarlet and Gray once again. Would love for him to come back and be a #3.

I'm not understanding why Cris Carter would be given any credit here. His son flunked out of school. What other choice did he have? Yes, you are spinning it.

And no, I didn't say Carter didn't deserve another chance, I just don't see how Cris Carter is being credit for doing what HAD to be done.

And how convenient of CBF to avoid my comments about the redshirting.

I don't really know what his situation is? Didn't he transfer out?

And I never said Carter shouldn't get a 2nd chance, just stated he didn't really have a choice in things, he had to go somewhere to get his grades right.

Wells went to a juco in Kansas, now is at Columbus State, and is expected to be reinstated to OSU in December.

You said the only reason he is getting a 2nd chance is because he's Cris Carter's son.

Didn't know he was coming back. I thought he transferred due to being buried on the depth chart.

I also said this will be Carter's 3rd chance. He had all summer to get his grades right after failing out last year (missed the bowl game). I said I'm not opposed to Carter getting another chance, but often times when a guy flunks out the coaches don't always welcome him back with open arms.

Total bullshit. He better thank daddy for the second chance he doesn't deserve. Too good to even go to class. If you go to class Duron they will help you pass. If professors dont know you are in the damn class how are they supposed to help you pass?

Good discussion on this thread, and then this:

In FACT, he didn't FLUNK out. He was ineligible for football. That doesn't equate to "flunking out" of school. He could have stayed at OSU, taken classes and then joined back up on the football team if he did what he needed to do in the classroom.

Instead of being proud of 2 young men, who BOTH struggled in the classroom, we're going to sit here and have a pissing match about Cris Carter. It doesn't matter who Duron's father is, the young man got his shit together and intends on returning to the University that he committed to. Nobody is on here hating on the kids that have to take summer classes at Columbus State to help boost GPA's or to get pre-req's done, but because Duron's dad is one of the best WR's ever at Ohio State, people take a cheap shot and claim he only got his 2nd chance because of his dad. What a crock of shit.

Looking forward to seeing him don the Scarlet and Gray!

Yep, thats how I understood it too. Keith Wells was also ineligible and they are giving him a second chance if he takes care of business in the classroom. Ray Small had 400 chances, and he his dad wasn't Cris Carter.

There have been a handful of players to get second chances after academic troubles that were not named Carter. Small, Rose, Carlos Hyde, Rod Smith, etc. Marcus Hall will soon be added to that list when he gets his crap together. But of course Duron being Cris' son is the sole reason he got another opportunity. Right.

My theory is that if you show Tressel you can better yourself and learn from your mistakes in the classroom while busting your ass to get back to good academic standing, then you're worthy of another chance.

Duron definitely has had huge ego and work ethic issues but if his head is on straight this time, no doubt in my mind he can perform well for the team and represent the university a little better this time around.
