Those who predict a blowout are haters? I would like to think I am a realist. Notre Dame is just not a very good football team.rock_knutne;496243 wrote:Once again, these hater blowout predictions are laughable. Kelly knows how important this game is and he's all in to get a W today. Stanford's not playing Sacramento State today!
This will be another tight football game for ND and they have to find a way to make the one or two extra plays to win. -

centralbucksfanSaying the defense was good, but couldn't get a stop on 3rd down...isn't that talking out of both sides of your mouth? ND gave up 400yds offense. Over 5yds per play. Not sure I would call that playing good. Better then last week vs MSU? Certainly..but thats pretty bad when you have to use that game as a comparison. Crist also has a long ways to go. He looked down right bad on occasion. I guess Kelly has absolutely NO faith in the running game. 50 passes last week, 44 this week. When your that one dimensional, your in trouble IMO. That is a head scratcher to me as I think Allen is pretty good RB. I realize they were down and had to throw late..but they don't look to run the ball all that much. I never thought ND would be 1-3. I actually thought they would be pretty decent. Still a ways to go...but now they have their work cut out for them, obviously.

Umm, no. I think I made it pretty clear. OVERALL, the defense did pretty good as they went up against a great offense. However, doing a good job on 1st and 2nd down and then giving up a conversion on 3rd and long......obviously isn't good. Luck hadn't thrown a pick all season....he threw 2 yesterday. The offense hung the D out to dry for the most part. But yes, OVERALL the D did pretty decent all things considered. They've just got to do a better job of getting off the field on 3rd down. That's not talking out of both sides of your mouth.....that's telling it like it is.centralbucksfan;497696 wrote:Saying the defense was good, but couldn't get a stop on 3rd down...isn't that talking out of both sides of your mouth? At this point there's no more shots to take.
ND is in a low place as a program, and at this point, at least to me, it's gotta be painful enough just to watch your team struggle week in and week out to beat middle tier BCS opponents. -

Well, if thats "your pretty good" in terms of defense, OVERALL....enjoy the world of mediocricy. Interesting how you can criticize your own team, but when a fant of another school does....hmmmm. Of course, your not overly defensive either, are you? lol Thats me telling it like it is. -

KR1245I had a blast at this game. I felt sorry for the Irish fans that I went with, especially my gf's grandpa. I already mentioned it but this was his last game at ND, it would have been nice to see the Irish get a win.
Couple of my comments and questions:
The student section didnt really seem to be into the game that much. I got the feeling that it was more of a social event, almost like a high school game.
The ushers are hardcore at that place, there was an usher standing in the mens bathroom at the half to watch for any "drunken behavior".
Whats the deal with the PA announcer and his safety tips? The fans went crazy for this guy. Whats the story behind this?
We did some tailgating in the white lot, security was pretty tight there as well. We were allowed to chug beer from a cup but not allowed to bong/shotgun? They also shut down a couple beer pong games. -

Mediocricy? LMAO. What is that exactly? LOL. Also, did I get defensive about your criticisms of ND or was I responding to your statement that I was "talking out of both sides of my mouth"? If your reading comprehension is 8th grade level or higher......you should be able to figure it out. I can criticize ND and so can others. I wasn't responding to your criticism of them and you know it. If you don't, enjoy "mediocricy"(still LOL'ing at that) when it comes to reading.centralbucksfan;499482 wrote:Well, if thats "your pretty good" in terms of defense, OVERALL....enjoy the world of mediocricy. Hell, there are a lot of OSU fans on here that don't like you. That speaks volumes...... -

I got the feeling from watching the game that the student section wasn't really into this game. Could be a bit of a hangover from the previous two games or just the fact that ND wasn't doing much at all to get excited about. Stanford is a good team and did a good job of taking the crowd out of the game. I've never had any problems with any ushers, but then again I haven't tried to sneak alcohol into the stadium either. The safety tip given at the end of the third quarter comes from an Indiana State Highway trooper and he always gives a corny joke related to getting home safely. Not sure how long its been going on but its just a part of the gameday experience. As far as White Field goes, I have tailgated there for every game I've been to except for 2 where I was right outside the stadium, and no one has ever said anything about drinking or anything like that. Maybe they recently changed their rules similar to what OSU did with their gameday stuff as far as having to pour beer into a cup rather than drink from can/bottle. I was at 3 games last year and drank beer/liquor without issue in both lots.
I'm glad you had a good time and I too wish ND could have won the game obviously. Even with the loss, its still a special place to be on fall Saturdays and I'm sure your girlfriend and her grandpa were happy to be there with you.
