Come on man. I'm not going to cast any stones, because I know that pretty much all of the big time programs have some bad apples. But to say that Meyer can't control certain players because he didn't recruit them? Are you serious? If they were bad dudes, and they were Zook's guys, don't offer them a scholarship.

According to an article, which is dated more then a year ago in June, under Meyer, Florida has had:

-24 cases have been charged against Fla players.

-21 arrests with three more players issued citations and later booked on charges.

-of the 24 arrests, 9 of those have been Felony charges.

Of those 21 arrests, 15 were Meyer recruits, including 9 players from his first recruiting class.

I know of at least a few more arrests, including this one since the above info was reported in 2009.

Another interesting fact...during this same time span, Georgia had 30 arrests and Tenn had 21.

I like how adults love to take pleasure in the misdeeds of young adults in college. It's nice to see people not in college taking satisfaction from young people getting into trouble.

    +1

That is why I usually stay away from these threads. It happens at every big time program. I concentrate on the product that is put on the field....I have zero control over how these kids act or conduct themselves.

There were some kicked off the team. Meyer also won national championship rings in his 2nd and 4th years at Florida. OSU had the dirty 30 first.

What do either of these points have to do with the current conversation?

Meyer address Gators staggering arrest rate:

My two cents is that Meyer needs to take a page out of Tressel book. When Tressel came to OSU, he was recruiting anybody and everybody. Obviously, we all know about all the issues during his first few years at OSU. I think he learned a hard lesson and began to be much more careful in recruiting better character kids. Meyer, as with Tressel can afford to be selective at this point in recruiting with what they have built up at their respective universities.

    Nice post, I agree.

Tressel really had to sell both himself and OSU early on as a restored elite program, same exact thing Urban had to do.

Now, they can pick and choose who they want (in terms of character).

Wow, thanks for that enlightening input. Worthless as usual from our resident OSU troll. Go worry about your Irish..that should keep you busy for some time.

I thought you were making a joke when you said that Urban Meyer should take a page out of Tressel's book. Sorry for laughing, I really didn't think you were honestly suggesting that.

maybe he should take a page out of notre dame's book the past 20 years on how to win

Good suggestion. Maybe you could forward it to him. I'm sure he is wondering how 2 OSU homers feel he should run his program.
