Three Years Ago Today . . .

krambman. . . Appalachian State pulled off arguably the biggest upset in college football history by beating the Michigan Wolverines in the Big House 34-32.
I remember being at a sports bar with a friend who was a Michigan fan watching this game. The whole time I kept telling him, it's only the first game, they'll come back and put App St. away, and I was pretty shocked when it didn't happen and when App St. blocked the field goal to win. Definitely one of the better sports experiences of my life. -

lhslep134I remember being in the Ohio Stadium concourse watching with all of the other fans who stayed after the YSU game.
F'ing nuts. -
BRFI was just thinking about this game yesterday and was trying to remember how many years ago it was. I can't believe it's been 3 years already. It was one of my favorites of all time!

IliketurtlesI remember when Michigan went up 32-31 by that awesome TD run by Hart... then ASU came back and threw that interception I figured it was over because they couldnt do anything in the 2nd half... then they get the blocked kick and then go down the field and get the FG to go up 34-32. And the blocked to end the game was just incredible. One of the biggests if not the biggest upset in all of sports history. Me and 3 of my friends were 30 minutes late to a team meeting because of this game. Good thing our coach was a huge OSU fan and when we told him about this he wasnt too pissed.

darbypitcher22I instantaneously become an Appy St. fan that day

Fab1bI remember sitting at BW3 down here with tons of Buckeyes partying after that shocker. Then of course the SEC fans started right in ragging the Big Ten. Well that same Michigan team came back and beat Florida in the bowl game that season, that was pretty sweet for Michigan coming from a Buckeye!!
-
AutomatikI was at the Varsity Club blasted out of my mind. I remember thinking "haha this is funny, UM is barely gonna beat them." And then it happened...
-
curlingrocksI was walking back to the tailgate by the Schott after the OSU game and watched the end on some random person's tv. Once the game was over, all the cops directing traffic stop what they were doing, went to their cruisers, and turned on their lights and sirens.
It was awesome. -
Trueblue23I was in the Big House that day. Long ass ride home.

Damn I couldn't imagine that. Had to be a terrible walk out of the stadium.
I remember when Vince Young and Texas broke our hearts.....what a sad walk. -

You mean the entire country ragging on the Big 10, wich has been going on for about 5 years running?Fab1b;468801 wrote:I remember sitting at BW3 down here with tons of Buckeyes partying after that shocker. It's funny that we are saying VY and Texas (the National Champs that year) broke our hearts and Armanti Edwards and Applachian St. (also National Champs in FCS) broke UM's heart.Automatik;468942 wrote:Damn I couldn't imagine that. Had to be a terrible walk out of the stadium.

I don't think after last season it has considering the Big 10 won 2 BCS games and went 4-3 in their bowl games (and the 3 losses were very close).TheMightyGators;468966 wrote:You mean the entire country ragging on the Big 10, wich has been going on for about 5 years running? -
LeonardoI was working a tennis tournament and getting text updates from a friend. Two friends were with me and are Michigan fans. Needless to say, they were in utter shock when I told them the final.

killdeerWow, has it been three years already?
I remember thinking, at the time, 'this is the day the UofM football loses relevancy'.
I guess time has proven that notion correct. Hmmm. -
AutomatikDon't forget what went down the following week. The Dennis Dixon show.....dude was droppin' BOMBS!

Yeah, I don't think that they'll be irrelevant forever, but it almost seems like that loss has had the same effect on the UM program that major sanctions (like those USC received) have on programs. Although it really all started the year before when Ohio State beat them. That was the first of four straight losses for UM. -
redfalconI was in U. of Wyomings stadium watching a game when they came on and said that the score was 34-32 App State, but Michigan was lining up for a field goal. 30 seconds later they come back on and you could here the announcers tone of disbelief as he said that Michigan's field goal had been blocked and the game was over. The crowd just went nuts. It was incredible.

It's not that difficult to follow. He said the SEC fans started ragging the Big10. Should have said the entire country. -

I don't think he was partying with the entire country at B Dubs...therefor his post is perfectly fine. -
