Big Ten division alignment announcement tonight?

    Apparently there is a special on the Big Ten Network tonight at 7pm. Some believe it could be the announcement of divisions.

    It has been rumored for the past couple of days, but I don't know why the Big 10 wouldn't announce and promote the crap out of it.

    Details of possible alignments have already been leaked. Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez said the Badgers and rival Iowa will be in opposite divisions, Greenstein reports.

    Not sure if that is good news for osu michigan or not.

    Wisconsin and Iowa being separated leads me to believe one of two things:

    1. Nebraska, Iowa, Penn State anchoring one division and OSU, Wisconsin, Michigan in the other.

    or

    2. Nebraska, Iowa, Michigan in one division with OSU, Wisconsin, Penn State in the other.

    How does osu and michigan in same division not work? I don't get it. They will/could be playing last week for the chance to play for title each year. Isn't that good enough for the big 10???

    There are rumors that say they are going to be in different divisions, but the game will remain at the end of the season. Which this does not bother me. I would think number 2 scenario is most likely.

    I personally would like to see Ohio State and Michigan to play in the same division, continue to play last game of the season, with the winner possibly having a chance to play in the Big Ten title game.

    Honestly I doubt you would, I think this could add to the drama of the game, because of the different sceanrios as to who participates. As long as inter divisional records count towards the conf champ. If they only count divisional games towards the champ then if UM and OSU are really good and run the table ala 2007, the game turns into a pointless game.

    Andy Katz is saying OSU and Michigan ARE NOT in the same division. I think ESPN is about to reveal the divisions.

    also, The O-zone is reporting that OSU/MI game will stay as last game of year, 1 week before conference championship game

    Is it just me, or by doing this did they make it MORE lopsided than if they had just gone East/West? (which is interesting since they wanted balance more than anything else)

    The OSU/Michigan is still going to be played every year, for those who were bitching about it not being played. It is one of the "protected crossover games" or whatever.

    I like the divisons tbh.

    Travel doesn't matter because these teams were already playing each other. They just had to add Nebraska and make the division competitive with the correct powers in each division.

    Once Michigan gets back to normal, could be soon or later but they will get back, the divisions will be fine.

    I like the divisions as well...and I also like the fact that we're still playing tsun at the end of the season, regardless of whether or not we have to play them back to back...GO BUCKS!!!

    When Joe Pa leaves/dies(joking), Penn St is going to be down, way down. It will be a 2 horse race for that "2nd division" for a few years after he leaves. IMO.

    I almost never swear, but fuck the Big Ten!
    Multiple sources told ESPN.com that the two divisions in the Big Ten will look like:
    • Michigan, Nebraska, Iowa, Michigan State, Northwestern and Minnesota.
    • And Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin, Purdue, Indiana and Illinois.

    According to multiple sources, the Big Ten wanted to preserve a number of traditional rivalries such as Michigan-Michigan State, Iowa-Minnesota, Purdue-Indiana and Indiana-Illinois.
    But not the only rivalry that really matters? That one that will be playing it's 107 game this year, and it's 75th straight as the regular season finale? Not the biggest rivalry in American sports?!

    I guess that we shouldn't totally freak out yet since future schedules haven't been announced, so there's still the possibility that the conference could do the right thing and have them play at the end of the year and just risk the back-to-back rematch (although I know this is unlikely, it's still within the realm of possibility).

    Well the prediction was right. I think Wisconsin has to feel like they got hosed. I am just wondering how inter division games will work and if all are "protected".

    I don't think its that bad as long as they keep the game at the end and coutn the inter division games.
