Explain how Stoops has done any more than those guys in the last 5 to 6 years? You can't because he hasn't.
I would be willing to bet that Peterson,Fitzgerald,Mullen, and Charlie Strong would all get interviews befoe Stoops -

I see where you are saying "the last 5 to 6 years" and thats okay. But Stoops has played for more titles than anyone around today. He has played in a BCS bowl in 7 out of 9 years. Yes, he lost more of those, but he was there. He has as many titles during the years of his tenure as anyone not named Urban Meyer or Nick Saban. His overall win percentage is right up there and Mack Brown has had his number recently, but overall they are about even head-to-head.
Tressel has no competing coach who is elite (Stoops deals with Brown every year). Meyer's success is much more recent and he has only just begun to have to deal with Saban. Pete Carroll's record can be tossed out at this point (I really like him and those USC teams, but you will not win any argument for him at this point). Beamer....please. Peterson hasn't done it at a big time program yet. So, you tell me why any of those guys are clearly better than Stoops. -

You originally said that all Stoops has proven is that he is a massive choke artist. I'm still waiting to see the coaching resumes that have accomplished more than Stoops in the past 11 years.Ty Webb;491501 wrote:Explain how Stoops has done any more than those guys in the last 5 to 6 years? More likely than not....you are still a Stoops nuthugger from the Spurrier days.
Plain and simple,Bob Stoops will never be the head coach at the University of Florida
As for your questions, see the resumes of Brown,Saban,Meyer,Carroll,Tressell, and Beamer -

Brown-does he have less Big12 titles and less NC appearances than Stoops?
Saban-debatable
Meyer-debatable
Carroll-you called Stoops a choke artist? ha
Tressell-Nope, on par at best with Stoops
Beamer-LOL!
That's it? No other coaches have accomplished more than the "massive choke artist"? -

Who is a shell. I suppose you can have that one, but do you really see Paterno in the same class as any of these other guys since Tressel has been at OSU? I wasn't knocking Tressel - he's that much better than any coach he faces in the Big Ten. Stoops and Brown are in the same handful of top coaches and face each other every year. -

gorocks99Since the current coach at my favorite school is most likely leaving, I'll take a stab at a realistic list to replace him:
Minnesota
(Tim Brewster)
Mark Richt: Don't laugh, he may get canned by Georgia after this season. He grew up a Nebraska fan, so there are some Big Ten ties.
Al Golden: What he's doing at Temple is nothing short of remarkable.
Brent Venables: Big XII guy, but becoming a head coach at a BCS school would be a big chance for him.
Randy Edsall: Guy can just flat-out coach. No ties to the midwest though.
Kevin Sumlin: Guy gets a lot out of his Houston teams, but I'm not sold that his style would translate to Minnesota. -
gcate1. Nick Saban
2. Bo Pelini
3. Mark Dantonio
4. Bob Stoops
5. Jim Harbaugh -
cats gone wildIf Miles goes by choice or firing......I want Bo Pelini back.
