UConn @ Michigan: Big House Rededication

  • Trueblue23
It's the grand re-opening of the Big House, and UConn comes to Ann Arbor in what should be a great game.

If all predictions are right, Michigan will be starting Denard Robinson at QB over Tate Forcier and the much hyped Devin Gardner. Robinson looks as if he has improved greatly over last season, in which he was only a threat to run the ball.

So who wins this opening week match-up?

I am so tempted to pick Connecticut, and when in doubt, pick against Michigan these days. So I did.

Michigan does match up well though, no? Connecticut runs the ball and Michigan's run defense is the better of their defensive dichotomy.

It's the grand opening for the ridiculously awesome New Big House, that adds something to it. But Randy Edsall will want to showcase his ability, because he will be high on the list of candidates once Rodriguez bites the dust.

I hate to say it but I've been feeling UCONN all offseason.

I like UConn. They were a better team last year, and I believe they have more returning than Michigan does. A lot depends on how improved Michigan D is and the QB play.

    Go Huskies.

UConn should be in a little better mind frame than they were at the end of last season, and I think with the way they can run the ball and control the clock like they did against a few teams late, they pose a threat

I think it's going to be a dog fight with UCONN pulling out a close victory. Given all of the offseason turmoil Michigan has gone through I simply cannot see them beating any respectable team this year.

I think Michigan shuts some people up and comes out hungry.

Do you think or hope webfire? I think this game goes a long way in determing Richards future in maize n blue

UConn pisses all over The Big Out-House

I went against all my instincts and picked tsun. They'll start the season out hot, but then fade as they have the past couple of years....BUT, I wouldn't be the least disappointed if I was dead wrong--GO HUSKIES!!!

So I'm just wondering, is this actually the rededication game? I know that this will be the first game in the newly renovated stadium, but it seems odd to be that this would also be the rededication.

That being said, I think UConn is the better team, mainly because Michigan has no defense (at least no depth on defense) and no quarterback (because if you have three QB's it really means you don't have a QB), but Michigan is kind of an enigma who could come out and play great and win, or fall flat. All I know is that a guy I go to church with who's a big Michigan fan wants them to lose this game because he wants RichRod out, so he's willing to sacrifice a few wins this year in order to assure more wins in the future.

    UCONN all the way

You let a Michigan fan in your church??? We don't permit that at St. James the Tressel.

Its an absolute must win for Michigan...I say they somehow find the nuts to win.

I think UCONN get it done. No happiness for UM faithful at this rededication.

As someone who folllows a team in the Big East, I feel as qualified to talk about UCONN as anyone on here.

UCONN's strengths play to Michigan's weaknesses. UCONN has a very experienced and a very huge offensive line (6'7 332 pound guard Zach Hurd is one of a couple guys on the OL that will be playing on Sundays next year). Their offensive line reminds me of the ones we are all accustomed to seeing in the B10 or at a Nebraska. They return a senior QB, two 1,000 yard rushers from last season and have depth. UCONN head coach Randy Edsall is no stranger to RichRod and the sperad option offense as he sees it all season in the BE. Watch out for big games from UCONN LB's Lawrence Wilson and Scott Lutrus. They are very fast and will be all over the field.

This game could prove to be very difficult for the Wolverines. I know there is a lot of pressure on the Wolverines to win this one, but UCONN pull soff the upset (which really is not an upset at all).

RR has got to find a way to win 3 out of the first 4 to have any shot at getting to 6 or 7 wins this year. The defense will be better but not by a whole lot and the offense will also improve. My only fear is the teams resent history of falling apart in the middle of the season. I see 6 wins as one they should win with ease but with there history there is no guarantees.

Lol gee im shocked @ so many picks of Uconn on an OSU based board..../end sarcasm
  • Hb31187
And if Uconns strength is offensive line...they play into Michigans strength which is their Defensive line

Did you expect to be shocked?

even though this is often the case, Uconn is not a horrible pick here based on pure football IQ. I think Michigan has more talent and should win this game but I have yet to see much winning from RR. I think Michigan will win Big because of how they played in the opener last year also the amount of effort that was in place for the OSU game last year.

I'm going against my gut, and picking UM. I think they start off nicely like last year and their speed finds a way to make a couple more plays than UConn does.
  • Automatik
My pick has nothing to do with me being an OSU fan. Michigan has shown me nothing over the last few year that leads me to believe they can get this W. As stated UCONN is a vet laden team with some real talent. If UM does find a way to win I'll view it as an upset.

I took Michigan. When 2 average teams play, I usually go with the home team.

    Michigan 23
    UConn 17

UCONN. They have really been pulling together and looking good since they went to ND last year and gave them the business.

Michigan: on field issues (quarterback selection).
off field issues: Ongoing NCAA investigation
coaching issues: like Rich Rod is in the hot seat big time
