I wanted to see that rematch too, but the BCS was manipulated so it wouldn't happen. However I think both teams were severely exposed in their bowl games. -
vball10setcute...I've got a feeling they'll be in a bowl this year--a lower tier bowl, but a bowl nontheless

vball10setcute...but don't be surprised if tsun does get in an invite--to a lower tier bowl, but a bowl nonetheless

TiernanI'd love to beat the SkunkWeasels twice every season!

Division:
Ohio State
Penn State
Indiana
Purdue
Minnesota
Wisconsin
Division:
Nebraska
Iowa
Michigan
Michigan State
Illinois
Northwestern
Last week of regular season "Rivalry Week":
Ohio State vs. Penn State
Indiana vs. Purdue
Minnesota vs. Wisconsin
Michigan vs. Michigan State
Nebraska vs. Iowa
Northwestern vs. Illinois
Protected Rivalry Games:
Ohio State vs. Michigan
Penn State vs. Nebraska
Wisconsin vs. Iowa
Indiana vs. Illinois
Northwestern vs. Purdue
Minnesota vs. Michigan State
The only non-rivalry that becomes a rivalry is Minnesota vs. Michigan State and Penn State vs. Nebraska is too big to pass up.
They will say that this preserves the most rivalries.
If we complain enough, I am hoping that they would consider reworking the schedule to move around a couple games and allow Ohio State vs. Michigan to be the last game.
False, I will not mark it down. Gene Smith just said nothing is set in stone (contrary to reports) and that he can't even use his email because its full of people bitching at him about the game and putting the two in the division. -

Smith says OSU-Michigan game yet to be decided
After being inundated with emails opposed to the possibility of moving the Ohio State-Michigan football game from the final week of the regular season, Buckeyes athletics director Gene Smith today said that no decision about the future of the game has been made.
In a video released on ohiostatebuckeyes.com, Smith said the Big Ten discussions related to integrating Nebraska have centered so far on divisional alignment and the logistics of adding a ninth conference game.
“No decision has been made, and frankly we’ve had very little discussion on schedules – when or where teams would play,” Smith said.
Smith, Michigan AD Dave Brandon and OSU president E. Gordon Gee have recently said they are open-minded to moving the game from its traditional final-game spot on the schedule.
Smith told the Dispatch last week that he had gotten few emails on the topic. Since then, he said, his email folder has been “blowing up.” He said that more than 90 percent are opposed to moving the game.
“The feedback I’ve received thus far has been unbelievably beneficial,” Smith said.
Smith said league officials and ADs will have a conference call next week and another discussion after that to talk about scheduling.
“Every consideration will be on the table,” Smith said.
He said it would be inappropriate to discuss publicly his opinion or that of Ohio State’s.
“lease understand we’re going to do our due diligence and what’s best for our institutions and first and foremost what’s best for the kids,” Smith said, “and make sure we protect all our traditions and come up with a structure that will last over time.” -
WriterbuckeyeUM's AD was quoted as saying that cross divisional games WON'T EVEN COUNT in the standings to determine who goes to a championship game. So if they do put OSU and UM in differing divisions and make it so only division games count in the standings, the OSU-UM game will be all but meaningless so far as any title aspirations go.
Ridiculous.
I hope Smith is telling the truth and nothing has been decided, or else they were putting this out there as a trial balloon and have now seen it completely shot down and will abandon it.
But quite frankly, I don't trust any of these fuckers so far as I could throw them. -
j_crazyI'd look at Alabama and Auburn as proof that the 2 need to be in the same division. the Iron Bowl hasn't changed in 30+ years. and when the SEC expanded it kept them 2 schools together and let their traditions trump the conference's greed. that game hasn't missed a beat, even in years when both teams were dumpster dwellers.

Do you have a link to that?

I couldn't agree more. People keep wanting to compare OSU/Michigan to Texas/Oklahoma since they play mid season, but that is their second biggest rivalry. OU/UT is closer to Michigan/Michigan State that OSU/Michigan. Texas biggest rival is A&M and OU's biggest rival is Oklahoma State. Besides, OU/Texas has always been played mid season, and those teams are in the same division. Yes, OU/Texas may have more on the line and may garner more national interest than UT/A&M or OU/OSU, but the more I think about it the worse the comparison UT/OU is to OSU/UM.
You are right that Alabama/Auburn is probably the most comparable rivalry out there to OSU/Michigan and I don't think it has lost anything by being in the same division and playing in the final game of the season. -

Do you have a link or poll results to this topic? If you think OU-OSU or UT-TA&M is a bigger rivalry than it doesn't make sense that you don't Michigan's biggest rival is MSU. Do you ever listen to Bill King or Paul Finebaum on sattelite radio? They are both based in the south. The OU and Texas fans call in every day ripping each other. I never hear OU fans even mention OklaSt. Also, OU is 80-17 against Oklahoma St. Do you really believe that is the biggest most important game to OU fans? Texas is 75-36 against Texas AM. OU-UT is a bigger game, more important game with much more National Interest. If OSU or Texas AM ever got close to the level of OU or UT, then you could see those games having more importance.krambman;464321 wrote:Do you have a link to that?
