I don't feel sorry for the Seniors at ND either. They have had an opportunity to play 4 years of college football at Notre Dame, and also earn a degree from Notre Dame without paying a dime for tuition, room & board, books, lab fees...etc.Cmhs74 wrote: Don't feel sorry for Weis but feel sorry for the seniors who thought they'd have a better chance of winning.
Even for walk-ons who may have had to pay all or part of their college expenses, the opportunity to play for a school like ND and earn a degree from ND is something that most student-athletes that play high football would love to have, even if their senior season ended with a record of 6-6.
In the big picture of life, having the opportunity to play football at ND and also earn a degree from such a highly regarded academic institution will ease any pain/bitterness these players feel when the season is over. -

Should I take that to the bank?sleeper wrote: Not really. ND was terrible when he got there, and ND will be terrible when he leaves. -

CradlemanI don't believe there has been a coach in the 40 years I have followed football that is more disliked due to his own ego and arrogance than Weis. He pretty much announced to the world when he was hired that he was something special. The media gobbled it up and quickly annointed him as an "offensive genius". Charlie relished in it with his huge ego and was quick to hold up his Super Bowl rings, and talk of Brady. Now we know, or we have known for a while that when it comes to coaching, Charlie doesn't have a clue. I do not feel sorry for him, he has no respect for anyone. I'm guessing he still believes he is the greatest. I for one will be glad when ND throws his butt out and with his big old ego crawls back to the NFL.

He only donates and raises millions for charities and his daughters' foundation, visits dying children and let's them call a play in an actual game and is a tireless worker. Yep, his respect levels are pretty shitty. -
darbypitcher22I echo the arrogance thing that was said earlier. No, I don't really feel bad. He made his bed now he's gotta sleep in it

centralbucksfanMixed bag of feelings towards Weis. He is and especially was VERY arrogant when he was hired, and during his first few years. He was obviously humbled very quickly.
But I also saw and read enough stories to know he is a good man who really loves ND. Saw a story about his daughter as well that was very touching.
The thing I liked about the guy...is where he came from. He litterally worked his way up by turning the lights on and off in Giant Stadium, to endearing himself to Parcells, then to offensive coordinator with Big Bad Bill. Its really a cool story that someone like him(lets be honest, non athlete, overweight, etc, etc) could work himself to where he is today.
But, he will also be walking out with more money then I could have ever dreamed about having...so I won't be shedding any tears for the guy. -
Thunder70He brought it all on himself. Strategic advantage my foot...

tigerfan82No I don't feel sorry for him.........or any college coach. They know how the game is played, not saying it is always right, but either win or get fired.......it is the way it is.

TiernanFeel sorry for guy who will walk away with a $12M buy-out? Yeeeaaah I feel really sorry for the poor fat bastard.

I have to agree with this.Footwedge wrote: The guy makes somewhere between 2 and 4 million coaching a football team/endorsements/speaking engagements. No...I feel sorry for people who are losing real jobs.
That picture is hilarious!killer_ewok wrote:ccrunner609 wrote:devil1197 wrote:Plus, the recruiting classes he has brought
There it is. THe mythical recruiting at ND shows up in every thread. As for felling sorry, all those players that could of went somewhere else and actually had a good experience. But they were fed the ND koolaid about the tradition and well.........thats all it was.
I would maybe be able to feel sorry for him if I hadn't seen the interview with him and maybe the school president (at least a priest in some place of authority) early in his ND career, and he sat there and talked like a sailor, with the interview being beeped like crazy. I just thought that was amazingly tacky, to speak like that around a man of the cloth. For obvious reasons, I don't like him, but I don't discount the effort that he put in - just the results. But then, who am I to talk about a coach whose intentions are good, but results....not so much. :s -
dat dudelol @ athlete37.

jordo212000Didn't he say something like "we're not going to be losing to the Purdues of the world" when he took the job?
He was pretty right about that, however he didn't mention anything about the Navys and UCONNs of the world
