This was UCLA's worst loss (in terms of spread) in almost seven years.

Portland followed up its win over UCLA with a win over Minnesota tonight.

Portland might be better than anyone thought.

WCC might be up for grabs for real this season?

Portland-Gonazaga could produce some epic "12:00 Monday night games" this year. Cannot wait. Those games in January and February are one of my favorite parts of college basketball.

A buddy of mine and I always text each other, "You true?" at about 1 a.m. during these games to make sure who's the better college basketball fan and still watching. :D

I think Portland, a team nobody really knows anything about, is actually a more difficult matchup for WVU. It will be interesting to see how WVU responds after a poor performance yesterday.

By the way, after the A&M game Huggins said this about WVU...

“I think we suck right now with or without Devin,” he said. “If we don’t have five guys playing together on offense we aren’t very good. If we don’t have five guys playing together on defense, we’re not very good. And that’s what we have right now. I don’t think we’re as good right now as we were at the end of last season.

That's why Bob Huggins is one of the best in the country. You won't hear too many coaches speak like that.

Portland is picked to finish AHEAD of Gonzaga in the WCC this season. However, ahead of BOTH of them is St. Marys. This could be a 3 bid league this season.

Is the Ravio kid from Portland related to the kid from Gonzaga a couple years ago??
  • reclegend22
Wow, Laley, I didn't realize that. This was the first season that I didn't pick up a preseason mag in years. I only picked up the Duke mags this year.

Can't wait to watch their late games out there.

Yeah, I remember seeing it in one of the Mags (most still gave the Zags the benefit of the doubt til the lose). I THINK it was St. Marys who was picked to win, but it couldve been Santa Clara or someone.

Either way, I was SHOCKED when Portland looked as good as they did. Then I remembered I saw they were supposed to be better than the Zags so I looked them up and they have some talented athletes coming back.

Regardless, UCLA might already be eliminated from the NCAAs after their 3 games coming up (Miss St, Kansas, and I forget the 3rd).

I'm not sure it was St. Mary's because they lost so much from last year. However, they do return some experience and have some talent coming in. With that said, the WCC will be tough, but being the preseason pick in that league doesn't mean what it has meant in the last 3-4 years. Both Gonzaga and St. Mary's had some very strong teams during that period. Nobody in the league is comparable to that this year, but it's always a fun conference to watch.

Good come from behind victory tonight for Clemson.
