Charlie Weis won with Willingham's players but can't win with his own.
-
LeninHmm, interesting. I thought Tyrone was the one who ruined Notre Dame.
-
jordo212000Was thinking the same thing. Notre Dame fired Willingham and Willingham had a higher Win %.
-
Hamp89Willingham won with Davie's players, but couldn't win with his own. What's your point?

jordo212000
He didn't have time haha. He was only there 3 yrsHamp89 wrote: Willingham won with Davie's players, but couldn't win with his own. What's your point? -
derek bomarthere was no depth behind that last class he had...he would have won zero games at ND had he stayed once Brady graduated. He won zero his last year at Washington...Ty is a terrible, terrible coach.
-
athlete37Derek Bomar summed this up pretty efficiently. This thread could be ripped apart with any further review of Ty's recruiting efforts in comparison to Charlie's.

trep14Ty is a terrible coach. No argument here on that. But what seriously makes you think that Weis is any better? Is it that almost win against USC as well as all the wins against probably the easiest schedule a Division I team has ever played in 2005 that resulted in Notre Dame making Frontbutt one of the highest paid coaches in college football for the next decade? Or is it all that recent success that Frontbutt has had at Notre Dame?
Arguing about who the better coach is between these two is like arguing who is the least retarded on short bus. You can thank the both of them for making Notre Dame football the joke it is today. -

Yeah its obvious that Willingham isn't a "great" coach. I think most would agree there. However, saying that Weis is a better coach just because ESPN and Rivals happens to like the guys he brings in, doesn't make sense at all. Its clear that Willingham was able to get something from the very little he had/brought in. Weis on the other hand, supposedly has a ton of talent... but yet they can't put it all together.trep14 wrote: Ty is a terrible coach. No argument here on that. Hamp89These threads are killing me..are people really trying to flame the ND fans? You do realize that EVERY ND fan thinks that Weis needs to go, correct? This is an extremely lame attempt at trolling, and is failing miserably.

Here you go: THEY ARE BOTH SHITTY COACHES! End of discussion. Nobody is making a case for Weis, and bringing up Willingham is simply a joke. They both suck.jordo212000 wrote:

jordo212000Why can't people just have a casual conversation about Weis and Notre Dame? Check the other threads, I didn't join in on all that garbage. Turn on ESPN man, the same conversations are happening. Just because you are tired of hearing about it, doesn't mean the rest of the world doesn't find it conversation-worthy

Mr PatOh my goodness! You say Weis is a bad coach?! What a revelation!!!!!!!!! My eyes have been opened! You see I've spent the last three years in a cave on Mars, with my eyes shut, and my fingers in my ears. Thank the Good Lord you were able to bring to my attention that Weis is a bad coach. As for Slick Willy, he got 4 years at Washington and repaid them by going with an 0-fer.

rock_knutneOne thing that can't be disputed is that Weis will have left the program in much better shape in player depth than Willingham did.
-
jordo212000
seems like Weis is one of those coaches who can't get talent to the next level (Denny Green , Byron Scott come to mind). They get the train headed in the right direction, but for some reason they just can't get the talent over the hump.rock_knutne wrote: One thing that can't be disputed is that Weis will have left the program in much better shape in player depth than Willingham did.
Notre Dame is in a good spot IMO. If they could find a tough, young defensive minded coach this could be an outstanding team next year. I've always been a fan of Will Muschamp down at Texas. Although I think he is Jimbo-Fishering that job from Mack Brown.. -
rocket31i find it quite amusing that the "alleged" buckeye insider uses his first post to attack notre dame.

Mr Pat
Good point, let's have a Maurice Claret is a criminal thread. Or a Tressel only the big one with Cooper's players, or even a the earth is round thread. People may still wanna hear about those gems. You're right, nobody required me to open the thread, and nobody is requiring me to not respond either. If it's a dumb topic that's been beaten to death, I will respond in kind. Just saying.jordo212000 wrote:

darbypitcher22Lets just remember one thing: Everyone wants to say that coaches that don't win are bad coaches.... that's not true at all. Many different variables, especially at that level, that contribute to success.
-
Mr PatTrep, it is a dumb topic. We have had this "debate" with Lenin and many others on the "other side" so many, many times. It always ends the same way. Willingham is a bad coach, Weis is a bad coach, we know. Tressel only the big one with Cooper players is also a dumb topic.
-

you need to be punched in the mouth for saying a very untruthful and stupid statement like that.sleeper wrote: Ty was fired because he's black. -
darbypitcher22what I'm saying is just because a coach doesn't win games doesn't mean he's a bad coach. There are many other variables (support within the institution) and other underlying things that can keep a coach from succeeding.
