I think Texas is a little high.....
Four Big 10 teams ranked in the Top 25 and 2 ranked in the top 10.
I really think Cincinnati should have been in the Top 25 as well.

I was a little shocked to see Florida ranked that high.

Texas is overrated at #4. Not saying they could possibly pull it out, but considering what they have lost, I think it is a high position preseason. Oregon at #11 is also too high (no pun intended for Masoli). They have had serious off the field issues including the loss of their man Masoli. The U is overrated #13 and Florida State is at #20. These programs are getting bumped based on their history in the late 80's, 90's and early 2000's.

I think Miami is going to be solid this year. I think they will win the ACC....and If Texas gets by Oklahoma then Nebraska...they will be playing for the Title again...But that is a big IF....if they win the South they will probably have to pay Nebraska twice....

Really? I bet they fall off the face of the earth by September 2012

    Why you think that?

^^^ Because thats the last time OSU is scheduled to play them. Karen is basically saying that OSU fans only rank Miami highly because they are playing them this season.
  • mattinctown
Florida, Texas, and Penn State too high IMO, and Navy will be ranked at some time in the year. Miami will be solid this year, but OSU will beat them. Boise may be a bit low at 5 actually.

Partially correct. You forgot to mention ND and Miami will play in October 2012
  • rock_knutne
I think Florida is solid at #3 and I can't believe how Alabama is not the unanimous #1, mind boggling.

I have no idea who voted for Georgia. I know that Richt has never put together two seasons in a row without topping 10 wins but is in serious jepordy of doing just that this year. They are bringing back a ton of starters on offense, 10 of them. But the only position without a returning starter is QB. A lot of people are high on Aaron Murray for that spot and he is a talented guy, but the principal reason he is going to be the opening day starter is that Zach Mettenberger got booted from the team. The bigger issue for the Dawgs is that their defense is going to be as bad as it was last year. Their offense will keep them in games, but they will have the same issue that Arkansas is going to have this year. To win games in the SEC a team needs to get stops at a high frequency, I don't see how Georgia is going to do that.

I hope you are right. Georgia has a new d-coordinator this year, so we'll see how it plays out. They are changing to a 3-4 too. I think they are about right at #21, but CFN has them underrated.

I think its ok for the most part, think Texas is overrated @ #4 along with Oregon and Florida State
  • Red_Skin_Pride
I think that in the top 5, Boise State and Florida should be switched, but other than that it looks pretty good. I don't think Texas is overrated at 4, that's about where they will finish the season (3-6 IMO). As usual, Virginia Tech is vastly overrated at 6, but that's only going to help Boise State's cause to move up, especially if one of the top 4 slip up in early weeks. Oregon's a little high (sorry JM) at 11, i think more like 20 IMO. I also have no idea how GT is ranked considering that basically all of their offensive production is gone from last year. I would replace GT with Cincy at 17, and the rest looks pretty good.

Georgia will finish in the top 8

I like the Gators to hold true to recent form and have a very good season. Urban Meyer and the gang will have a chip on their shoulders to produce with Tebow gone.

No shit sherlock. They have more talent at every position than every team but 1 in their conference and a coach who knows how to use it. Really went out on a limb there didn't you? :D

Mel Kiper just released his top 5...Miami FL starts out at #4.

Mel and other voters overrate Miami. They will be a good ballclub, but not Top 5 material. There is no justification for rating them this high. The team lost five ballgames last year and got pummeled in their bowl game by a decent Wisconsin team. I can very easily see them losing 3-4 games during the regular season again this year.

Many of these "experts" vote for the names on the front of the jersey , not the actual team who wears them at the present time.
  • karen lotz
Right, I wasn't agreeing with him at all. Could just be part of ESPN trying to hype up OSU/Miami.
  • Pick6
Well, Miami did lose 4 not 5 games last year, but they were a young team. That #1 recruiting class Miami had a few years ago will be juniors this year. They destroyed the ACC champs (Georgia Tech), yet lost some games they shouldnt have, like Clemson and UNC. With them being a year older, you would expect them to come through more in the close games and play more consistent. I would probably rank them a top 10 preseason team..but they definitely have the potential to be top 5.
  • TheMightyGators
If Miami's offensive line doesn't improve big time, they will be no where near the top 10 at seasons end.
