Will the Buckeyes win the Big Ten next year?

  • tcby99
    6 in a row?
  • devil1197
Yes and possibly a National Championship imo. There are several top teams that will be replacing huge contributers (Tebow/McCoy etc.). Just look at what happened to Oklahoma when their TE and Bradford were removed from the lineups. These type of guys are hard to replace.

The schedule is good for OSU. They will have to travel to Wisconsin and Iowa but they should not lose those games.

The entire offense, outside of Ballard and Small, will be returning along with guys like Berry who has been injured. The defense will be very good and will be great if Heyward/Gibson elect to come back to OSU. They return Rolle/Homan/Moeller along with guys like Sabino/Bell/Klein/Sweat at LB. Both CB's return along with Hines at S.

Its certainly possible if we have key guys stay on the defensive side of the football. I don't know about a National Championship, but its certainly well within reach to win a 6th straight Big Ten title

They better. Almost the whole team is back, and the schedule is favorable.

I'm thinking National Championship, not just Big 10 Championship next year.

This. Especially if OSU wins the Rose Bowl and gets the BCS monkey off their backs. They will have momentum going into next season, ranked in the Top 5, knock off Miami and the National Championship appearance will be theirs for the taking.

Even if Heyward and Gibson go pro, the only two that would leave early, OSU is loaded with offensive and defensive talent. OSU should be looking at a NCG appearance not just B10 imo.

I think they win another outright championship, and that may not be the only one of the year.

im an osu student, and a diehard buckeye fan... i would love to see osu make it to the national championship game. however, to win on a national stage, Pryor would need to greatly improve his throwing ability. I'm not sayin its not possible, the kid is a hell of an athlete, but from where he is right now, i do not think the buckeyes would be able to pull off a national championship

    sure,why not??

They should win an outright Big 10 championship and make it to the NC Game. If they win the Rose Bowl they will be riding high starting next year with a BCS win and a win over a top 10 team (if its Oregon). Pryor has to eventually get better right? I mean he is a hell of an athlete.

Absolutely. No one else in the Big Ten wants to win. Ohio State has literally tried to give away the championship these past few years and no wants to take it. The Big Ten is a terrible conference. Ohio State can sleepwalk through the big ten (kind of like they did this year) and lose one or two games max.

Yup. Who else is going to win it? haha. Northwestern? Illinois? Indiana? Michigan? Daryl Clark-less Penn State?

^^My guess next year for 2nd and 3rd place goes Michigan State/Wisconsin in no particular order. Maybe Iowa, but they lose a lot on defense, and IDK even with Stanzi back if they're offense will be enough to win them a lot of games.

    I hope so.
  • darbypitcher22
will Michigan State have the revolving QB door fixed yet?
  • Citybuck
The games at Iowa and Wisconsin won't be easy......

It is deffinitley possible to win the Big Ten again, but look at what happened to Oklahoma this year. We never know!!!! :) Next year should be fun though!

Let's just hope we don't crumble. I think we only los Cordle up front, so we've got 4 starters back

    Yes

I have been saying since last year, that this team is built for a national title run next year, Pryors junior year. Which obviously means they will have to run the table in the Big Ten. Which I feel they will.
Now, I was much more confident earlier in the season thinking Pryor would have a better year this year. So his development concerns me as he will have to be MUCH better next year.
On top of that, we will have to wait to see what Heyward and Gibson decide about the NFL. If they both come back, I would suspect OSU could be #1 going into next season with all that they have returning. Of couse, the Rose Bowl could either strengthen that, or drop them a little bit.
So some variables are there...but so is the potential.

    Yes they will.

The question is... who in the Big 10 can even compete with them next year?

The game at Wisconsin will be tough. Wisky returns Clay and Tolzien on offense so they should be pretty good there imo.

The Big Ten title should be within reach, but never a national championship with Pryor. He just does not have the 'it" factor that a Tebow has. After two years of trying to fix his mechanics, I question whether he has the mental strength to want to change.

I'll be the first to admit it if he does change, however I called this dog early last year, and so far I've been correct.

I will be expecting a 12-0 regular season next year with the schedule we have.

@ Wisky will be tough. Iowa may or may not be, but there won't be a game OSU isn't favored in going in.

Winning the championship is a different story, but I will honestly be somewhat disappointed if this team doesn't at least get there next year. Getting Heyward and/or Gibson back would be enormous.

It's hard winning a national title. One of these years, the Bucks will get hit with the injury bug and not win the Big 10.
