If Texas were to lose the big 12 championship...

    ...Which they won't, but lets say hypothetically they did, who would you put in the national championship? Assuming Florida wins the SEC, that would leave bama, but I think we proved in 06 that you don't get a rematch, TCU, who is currently 4th, Cincinnati, the only only undefeated BCS team which is left, and Boise state, who is sitting in 6th place. So, who goes against florida if Texas losses? I gotta think it would be Cincy, for the simple fact that they won't put a non BCS team in the championship game.

    In this example I would say UC v. FL/BAMA winner. If UC wins out over Illinois and top ten ranked Pitt they will pass over TCU in the BCS polls. They already are ranked #2 by the computer polls and just tail TCU by .1 of a point. Wins over Pitt and Illinois will get them over the hump and into the final in the event of a TX/ SEC meltdown.

    I would put TCU vs Florida in that scenario. Little Danny is right though UC will more than likely pass TCU.

    TCU and UC should be ahead of Texas right now IMO.

    BCSbunk didn't say he would rank UC over Texas now. He said, it should be UC over Texas. I think he was referring to the SOS. UC's SOS this season is better than Texas'. Of course, you have to consider other factors and I think that is why Texas is ranked ahead of them.

    hopefully the BCS system would overheat and the ncaa offices would explode leading to an ncaa commisioner who will have nothing but a playoff.

    Yes right now. Texas schedule is abysmal.

    Who are their best wins? What are the quality wins for Texas?

    Oklahoma St? that is it the rest is terrible. The Big 12 is down this year in a big way.

    TCU has 3 BCS top 25 victories on their resume. TCU's body of work is better than Texas's. So is UC's .

    I think UC will probably jump them. HOWEVER, if Clemson finds a way to beat GT in the ACC title game, you're plan may end there. If that happens, TCU will get some help across the board in points, and it will own the only win of the top 5 teams over another conference's champion (BCS conference that is. Oddly enough, if Oregon wins the PAC 10, the only 2 schools in the top 6 to beat another conference's champion will be TCU and Boise State) Anyway, that will go along ways in many ways, including the human element. We'll see how it works out. I think TCU's in a pretty good spot right now. They only have 1 game left, whereas most teams have 2 (incl. conference championship games) and several teams have tough matchups left, while TCU played their toughest games early on. If there's anything the last few years has taught us in college football, its that upsets happen a LOT, and I doubt that all these teams we're talking about, make it through all the remaining games unscathed. If they don't, the BCS will be in a tough spot. Because they don't want to let TCU or any other midmajor in; but it's a very real possibility that the situation will arise where they will have to.

    Texas will not lose in the big 12. Living in Kansas I see most of the big 12 games each week and can say that this conference is terriable. I will also tell you that texas has no d this year at all. They will get blown out by whoever wins the sec championship game. It could be as bad as the year OU got blown out in the NC game

    If Texas loses, and Cincy drops one game, anyone else think Ga Tech (assuming they handle UGA and ACC title game) gets a shot over one-loss SEC loser, Texas, and TCU/Boise St.?

    If Texas loses a game and UC beats Illinois and Pitt they will be in the Title game over TCU and any other possible contender. The computers already have UC with a large advantage over TCU and that gap will only grow because of who they have left on the schedule. The gap between UC and TCU in the human polls is 55 in the coaches poll and 129 in the Harris. Both of those gaps would disappear with a victory over Pitt.

    [/align]Since we are talking "what if's", that involve outcomes which are unlikely, but not impossible, to happen, here is what I'd like to see take place in the next few weeks.

    Alabama loses this week to Auburn
    Florida loses this week to FSU
    UC loses to either Illinois or Pitt
    Texas loses to either Texas A&M or to Nebraska

    Boise State and TCU both finish unbeaten.

    I then want to see the BCS justify not having the only 2 unbeaten teams in FBS play in the BCS Championship Game, and instead have a 1 loss team from a BCS Conference bump out either TCU or Boise. And, if this highly unlikely scenario did play out, I would not be surprised if the powers that be within the BCS managed to rig the BCS Computer so that neither TCU or Boise ended up in the BCS Championship Game.

    As for the original "hypothetical" scenario posed in this thread, I believe that UC would play in the BCS Championship Game if Texas loses. I see no way that the individuals in charge of the BCS are going to allow a team from a non BCS Conference to play for a BCS Title if it can be avoided. The BCS Computer will be rigged in such a way that UC finishes ahead of TCU, no matter what happens in the remaining games for the opponents UC and TCU have played.

    The computers already have Cincinnati over TCU. The voters would be responsible for moving them up, and they will if they beat Pittsburgh. TCU is more deserving than any mid major in the BCS era, but they wouldn't be more deserving than an unbeaten Cincinnati or any BCS conference team.

    I'm not saying UC isn't deserving based on the BCS system. I'm merely pointing out that there is no way, in my opinion, that those in charge of the BCS would allow the final BCS rankings to end up with TCU ahead of UC provided both teams finish unbeaten.

    And, I wouldn't be surprised in the least if a 1 loss team from a BCS Conference somehow managed to finish #2 in the final BCS standings, even if ALL the computer projections at this time show that could not happen.

    The last thing the BCS Conference schools want is a non BCS Conference school in the BCS Championship Game. And, heaven forbid that a team from a non BCS Conference school would actually win the BCS Championship Game.

    if Oregon State beats Oregon and wins the PAC 10 UC will have defeated a BCS conference champion as well, and the champion of a better conference to boot. TCU isn't in that good of a spot. Their biggest win of the year will have been 3 weeks old when the decisions on the BCS are made. Not to mention that it was a game that almost no one actually saw take place. Out of sight out of mind.

    Fla loses to Fla St. Alabama loses to Auburn. Texas loses to Texas A&M and Nebraska. TCU loses to New Mexico.

    Cincinnati loses to Illinois and Pitt. Boise St. loses to Nevada or New Mexico St. Georgia Tech loses to Georgia. Oregon loses to Oregon St, Pittsburgh loses to West Virginia. Then after all that Ohio St will be in position to play the winner of the Fla Ala. game for the national championship.

    I do not know if the Cincy game against Pitt would be enough for them to jump TCU from a SOS persepctive. I think this would put TCU into the title game.
