A little post game perspective

  • devil1197
    OSU turnovers:

    OSU TOUCHDOWN
At OSU 32 during 2nd quater (OSU then proceeds to try the deep ball that was wide open to Posey)
At OSU 6 during 4th quarter up 11.
At OSU 19 during 4th quarter up 11.
At OSU 47 during 4th quarter up 11 with 3 min to go.

Why are you surprised that OSU didn't convert on the turnovers? There was no reason to try to score 75% of the turnovers OSU created. They were up 11 points, two TD's were deep in their own territory and in the 4th quarter. As long as OSU is up 7, its run/run/run/punt.

Handed to us? Sorry... but this is where you're delusional. Ohio State is one of the best defensive take away teams in the Country... they lead the country in INT's. It's not like this is a fluke occurrence with Ohio State getting turnovers. Quit acting like Ohio State didn't force those throws with pressure on the QB and great catches (Coleman's 2nd for example). Ohio State won that game because our defense DOMINATED and our running game was amazing. When that's how you play to win... the score isn't always necessarily a great indicator for how one sided the game truly was. Ohio State DOMINATED Michigan.

    Great post, Fly4Fun.

The turnovers weren't "handed" to OSU, they were forced by good defense, and the defense made plays.

^ they weren't handed too us i agree... but that one that Taint threw in the endzone was a real brain fart on his part.

I don't think he saw Torrence off the WR.

What a bullshit post. Total yards gained was even. It is true that picks are part of the game. But to say Ohio State dominated Michigan is a joke. LAST YEAR, the Buckeyes dominated Michigan..not this year.

The half time score should have been 7 to 6. Not 14-3. And once Pryor threw the deflected pick, which Michigan converted into 7 points, Tressel never allowed Pryor to throw another pass again.

I'm a huge Buckeye fan....but fans that view the world through Scarlet and Gray glasses are annoying.

Foot, your post is very confusing and quite wrong imo.

    1) Total yards means jack shit if you cannot put it into the endzone, Ohio State did and UM did not. Ohio State scored 3 TD's all of which were earned, two of which countered UM scores.

    2) How shouldn't OSU have scored 14 points in the 1st half? Because they weren't the ones putting pressure on Forcier when he fumbled? Once again you cannot take credit away from the OSU's defense on that play, they caused the entire sequence to happen.

    3) Your completely wrong on Tressel never allowing Pryor to throw another pass again. First, OSU scored on the screen PASS after the interception. Pryor then came out in the 4th quarter hitting Posey for 5 yards and then missing a TD bomb on the next play. Once the 4th quarter started to roll, there is no reason being up 11 to pass the ball.

The debate relates to whether Ohio State dominated Michigan or not. The way I view domination...what Ohio State did to Penn State...outgaining them 380 yards to a buck fifty. That's domination. The yards from scrimmage in the Michigan game was almost identical. This is not domination.

Ohio State's rush caused Forcier to drop the ball without so much as being touched? I will concede that Michigan probably would have punted from their own end zone...which may or may not have led to a field goal or a touchdown.

I looked up the play by play after Pryor's pick. Ohio State ran the ball 31 times and threw it 3 times. The only completion was the touchdown screen pass that you cited.

That is called "sitting on the ball" big time. 31 runs...1 for 3 passes.

If Forcier doesn't throw that ridiculous pick at the goal line...and instead Michigan scores and cuts the lead to 5 or 3. I don't think the word "dominated" would be used in describing this game. But somehow, because of this 5th turnover, Ohio State fans can play the "dominate" card?

It was a great win.....but Zambrown is dead nuts on the money in her OP, IMO.

If Forcier doesn't drop the ball due to OSU's pressure he probably gets sacked as a Freshman trying to do too much and not throwing the ball away imo.

No, Pryor went 2-3 he hit Herron and Posey (2nd and 13 at OSU 38 to start the 4th quarter) for pass completions after you said Tressel never allowed Pryor to throw again. Plus, why after running for 200+ yards once again would you pass with an 11 point lead in the 4th quarter?

IF, IF, IF. Guess what OSU's defense dominated and Torrence made the huge play by staying home, something that the CB's didn't do on the broken play TD for UM. The way the game was going, if Forcier doesn't throw the pick to Torrence the next play he would have thrown it to Coleman or Homan. Why, because he is a Freshman QB that hasn't done well in big games going against the best defense in the nation as far as creating TO's.

The game was never in doubt, UM scored and OSU countered both times with TD's.

Devil...I agree to disagree with you on this thread. You stated your opinion and I stated mine.

But one parting shot...:) The game was very much in doubt...until Fourcier threw the last pick on the goal line.

Zam, a WIN is a WIN any way you spin it. Stats don't win games, when it's all said and done all that matters is who WINS and who gets the L.
  • zambrown
That's absolutely true, 112in84. And I am giving full credit to OSU in their victory.

Edit: There, are you happy now, dwcrew? Such hostility for the winning team. Geesh.

The game really wasn't in doubt. I and I'm sure plenty of other buckeye fans had complete confidence in OSU's D to do what was necessary... which they did.

Yeah there was never a time when I thought Ohio St. might lose that game.

The last time I felt OSU might lose to Michigan was 2005. Troy Smith led the Bucks on an amazing drive to win that game. 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 I never doubted we would win, even when the score was close in '06.

Umm, no you didn't. In your original post you stated Michigan lost the game more than OSU won the game, giving credit to a bad Michigan team instead of praising the victor.

6 in a row must sting, 50 in a row will sting even more, and you can take that to the bank.

And now some fans are pumping their chests about how they are going the thrash the Pac 10 opponent in the Rose Bowl, not so fast my friends. Michigan had a totally ineffective offense yesterday and a defense that has been weak all year and you only beat us by 11 points.
Michigan's offense was ineffective due to OSU's defense.

So much for discussion - I'm glad some of you don't have my address. I'd fear for my life for daring to give a different perspective than the Almight Buckeye Nation. Carry on here, I'm done on the football forum. My season is over anyway. :(

Backtracking is fun. I was merely pointing out your inconsistencies. First you say that Michigan lost more than OSU won. Then you say you have given full credit to OSU for winning the game. I was pointing out your inconsistencies.

You'd fear for your life? Another overdramatic statement. I think the point is respect your opponent. You clearly aren't giving respect where it is due. A team that has spanked your team for the past 6 years and has won 8 of the last 9 games. They won their 5th consecutive Big 10 title and you say Michigan lost the game more than OSU won it? I think maybe give respect where respect is due.

Being on the other Huddle and on here, this is one of the first times I've ever seen Zam talk out of her ass.

UM played like a 5 win team Saturday. OSU ran for 251. OSU's defense forced 5 TO's. End of story.

This. I guess that's why I have been a little harsh on this thread. Normally Zambrown doesn't make ignorant comments like the original post. That original post looks like it was written by someone who has no clue about football.

After the Purdue game I felt like we gave the game away more than they won it, even though I'm sure from their perspective they felt like they created all those turnovers. I can understand why a Michigan fan might feel like that now.

I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. Her team stinks and isn't going to a bowl game so I can understand why she might be a little upset.

I don't think we gave the purdue game away. We played like shit and just flat out got beat. I think if somehow we would of won that game we wouldn't of deserved it.

The turnovers were forced. Buck the lack of "conversion" is disturbing.
