Lane Kiffin - who isn't rooting for him and USC to crash and burn?

  Seriously... this guy has left a trail of fire behind him. He burns bridges everywhere he goes... yet people continue to fawn over him. The guy is a fraud and will be out of coaching in a couple of years unless he changes quickly.

  The sad thing is when USC does crash and burn under him he now has a scapegoat. He will spin that into the reason for the poor performance and away from the fact he is a piece of shit coach.

  I couldn't care less how he does. Naturally I like when traditional powerhouses I don't root for struggle, but it doesn't affect the Big Ten or the Kentucky Wildcats, so it doesn't affect my fandom.

  After the way he started at Tenn. I could not believe USC even hired him. They deserve what they get. I also think the Vols are relieved he is gone without them having to pay.

  In a very short period of time, Kiffin put together possibly the best coaching staff in college football, including the best defensive line coach in the game. Yeah, he's a mouthy arrogant prick, but he was our mouthy arrogant prick.

  I think to most, especially from what I saw UK, it looked like he was on his way to restoring them to a top tier SEC team in a short amount of time. That changed real quick when the news broke he was leaving.

  Ole Miss hung 42 on them and VT put up 37 crushing them in the bowl game 37-14.

  The lack of talent and depth was very apparent from the beginning of the season (or, more accurately, the end of 2008). Going into 2009, Eric Berry was the only player who looked to be drafted at all. Instead, six ended up being picked, three of them in the first two rounds.
  
  For the perception that Fulmer was a great recruiter, there was a stunning dearth of talent, plus a lot of guys (13, I think) that left before the season started. The offensive line featured three starters who were originally walk-ons, and they were actually three of the five best linemen. The linebackers ended up using the fifth string for a good chunk of the season due to injuries as well.
  
  You mention the late-season collapse, but fail to mention the near-misses against Florida, Auburn, and Bammer.

  I'm a grad of the University of Washington, so naturally I am not rooting for USC. I hope my dawgs whip their butts this year.

  The Tennessee thing is total BS. To do that to a USC alumni that probably is a huge booster for your program isn't right.

  I don't want to rain on anyone's anti-Kiffin parade, but I think that USC will do better than many of us are hoping. It has very little if anything to do with Kiffin. Would I like to see the Trojans be down for a long time? Probably. I haven't cared for them ever. That really has nothing to do with Kiffin either.They will do alright because they are who they are. At the moment I can't think of another way to explain it.

  Kiffin better make them respectable. The new AD will be watching him like a vulture.
  
  His lack of verbal restraint is one thing. His lack of verbal restraint paired with a couple mediocre seasons? Fired, even with the scholarship losses. Haden will be waiting for the perfect excuse to get rid of him if he missteps off the field like he did at Tennessee.

  Some "experts" are saying the loss of 30 scholarships and a new coach will cause USC to free fall similar to Miami and will take as long as it has taken Miami to return to it's former self.

  I read the other day that USC was picked second in the PAC 10 this season and missed by a single vote of being tied with the favorite Oregon. Evidently, the PAC 10 folks don't seem to agree that USC will be in that much trouble competitively in their league this season. Unfortunately, I have to agree. USC will win games. I don't really know how, but I just have a feeling.

  Being picked to finish 2nd in the Pac 10 this year is nothing to hang their hat on. It will easily be the worst or next-to-worst BCS conference this year.
  
  It doesn't really matter, though. USC could run the table and they aren't going anywhere at the end of this season. I actually hope they do finish 12-0, it would make them sitting at home that much better.

  I'm not wishing this on the kids that are currently there, as they didn't have anything to do with it, but I'm sure wishing it on Kiffin and his staff for pulling some shady shit both here and at Tennessee

  Well...we will find out what kind of a season Southern Califormia will have very shortly. I hope everyone who has said it won't be all that terrific are right. I know that over the years I always made a point of checking off players who would not be returning the next season for the Trojans and figuring that this season or that season will certainly be the end of the Trojan's football fortunes. Particularly for the eight years that I lived right in the
  "Belly of the Beast", so to speak. It really has never worked out that way. I guess we'll just have to see.
