Wow. I will definitely be there. I hope the Rrrrrrrrockets pull an upset, Coach Beckman is a fine coach.

Beckman is a fine coach. Unfortunately I wouldn't be surprised if he is coaching somewhere else by 2015/2016.

My thoughts exactly. Really nice guy and good coach, but unfortunately Toledo is a stepping stone job. If he succeeds here he will get a chance to move on. Still, I'm excited about the game being at the Glass Bowl instead of a neutral site. Go Rockets!

Sat next to Beckman on an airplane a couple months after he got the Toledo job. He is very charismatic yet genuine at the same time. I would be shocked if he is not successful.

It is very surprising that he got Miami to come to a MAC school, but Beckman is a very well connected coach.

Wait a minute! Toledo brought Ohio State in for a home game just this past year....in Cleveland. :D

It pains me to write this, but....go Rockets. Although I would root for the hordes of Hades against Miami if so offered.

It really is amazing at the quality of opponents UT has been able to bring to the Glass Bowl. This makes Arizona, Boise St., Mizzouri, and the U, Navy, and Iowa St all in the next 6 yrs. I have heard from a good source in the athletic dept they are trying to get a big 10 team on the schedule for 2012, possibly Illinois.

Why in the world would Miami agree to come to Toledo?
  • dave
It's pretty simple, it's a game they expect to win but against a program that will hopefully give them a boost in the BCS by winning close to 10 games. It also provides them an opportunity to get back into Ohio for recruiting. O'Brien and Beckman are very popular guys in the college football circle so that certainly doesn't help.

I wouldn't be surprised if he was the Hurricanes coach by 2015...

That'd be ironic as hell. But I like to think he doesn't end up at a school I don't particularly care for haha

Something tells me when the U comes up here it will get moved to Cleveland

Miami doesn't have any fans that travel, even when they were good. UT won't be able to afford to rent out CBS unless they themselves are in a new conference and very good.

I hope the Rockets break their shit.

There is also likely a buyout clause.

Miami is willing to travel because they do not draw well in Miami. It is not a college football town. Ever watch a Canes game from Miami. The stadium is lucky to be half-filled. Miami has done a great job over the years marketing themselves to other urban communities and within the hip-hop culture. They get as many people showing up wearing Canes gear on the road as they do down in Miami.

On a related note, Miami will be hosting my Bearcats in 2015 as well.

How does it make any sense finanically to do a home and home with Toledo?
  • KnightXC1
It's great that Toledo can bring in Miami to the Glass Bowl because it just brings attention and interest to the team. Beckman is going to be a very good coach and is changing the culture of the program. And after having been involved in football program during the Amstutz days, everything I hear now sounds light years better than what it was when Tom was there.

I will most certainly be there for this one and God I hope UT puts a whooping on them.

if it didn't,the U wouldn't have agreed to it...that's why the AD's get paid the big bucks, and you'll continue to post nonsensical blather on a message board---please leave

you have to be the biggest dumbass on any message board on the internet, and the runnerup is probably not that close.
