USC won't be ranked in coaches' poll

    interesting,but not surprising...

It would appear that the NCAA is very serious about the sanctions placed on the USC athletic program, but rest assured that the Trojans will be back a lot quicker than many would like. There will be great players coming in and perhaps this time, the Trojans will be much more careful about policing their program. I am hopeful that this won't just be a lesson for Southern California but one for all intercollegiate programs around the country.

Don't kid yourself. Progams don't recover overnite from something like this. And Kiffin has yet to show just how capable he is as a coach. He currently has a huge wad of mud on his face and it will take time for him to clean it off to be able to sell some of these recruits and their families.

As clearly evidenced by his #10 ranked recruiting class for 2011 with only 9 commits so far.

The annoying part is going to be if USC has a great season and all the media speculation will be about if USC would beat whoever else is at the top of the BCS. All the what ifs, etc.
  • georgemc80
no way they have a great season. 3-5 losses await the Trojans.
  • Mohican00
I'm thinking we'll see USC revert to the Trojans of the 90's for awhile....
  • Hamp89
You guys are nuts. They are still talented as hell. There is no way they drop that far off..
  • goosebumps
Gotta agree with Hamp89, no way USC has 5 losses this year. Maybe 2, they're schedule is pretty easy.

They won't lose a single non-conference game: Virginia, Hawaii, ND, and Minnesota should all be easy wins.

I don't see them losing many conference games either, maybe Oregon state, Stanford, or Cal, but Oregon will have too many distractions, I see them having a bad year (Just a gut feeling).

Talented as hell? They were talented as hell last year and still lost 4 games, and ended up 5th in the PAC 10. They were drilled 47-20 and 55-21 by Oregon and Stanford.

Now they have NOTHING to play for at all. Good luck motivating them at this point. Great teams have depth..which is something USC won't have for a LONG while with the loss of scholarships and others players leaving the program.

Karen...WOW, a whole 9 players in the fold. LOL They were more then likely committed prior to the crap hitting the fan. Don't be shocked if many decommit to other places. And again, to be great, its about depth.

Wait and see. USC is in a world of hurt for a long while. Google Alabama and see how they did when they were slapped hard by the NCAA.

^^^funny you didn't mention their key wins ;)

They also had a freshman QB last year who gained a ton of experience and should be better prepared for the upcoming season.

Yes numbnuts NINE players and they are ranked 10th right now. Texas has 22 commits. All I'm saying is that he has commitments from 9 players who are good enough to have the class ranked in the top ten. LOL GO FUCKING BUCKS

Your blind hatred for anything non-osu prevents you from making any logical points. Good luck motivating them? If anything they will be motivated as hell to stay near the top of the AP 25 because you know damn well the media will be talking about them all season if they play well. Not to mention Kiffin will have no problem keeping these guys firing and he's still recruiting damn well considering the circumstances. There is a shit load of pride and tradition at USC and you're just plain idiotic to think that the program will just disappear or completely fall off. They will get through this far better than many are hoping for.

I'm not a USC supporter. In fact, they are among the teams that I have disliked for a long time. Part of that dislike comes from the fact that they seem to be tough all the time and when they lose a great player, they replace him with two and both replacements are better than the guy who left. They also beat my Buckeyes with alarming regularity. I have been watching these guys off and on since I first moved to Southern California back in 1958. They have been my nemesis ever since. I hope all of you who are predicting dire consequences for USC are doing based on solid facts. I would caution comparing USC with other schools who have had sanctions levied. I'm telling you that USC is a different animal. They will always attract great players and they will not be that bad this Fall. I would love to agree with those of you who believe that they will fail, but I'm thinking that this will simply not occur. I guess we'll just have to see.

Whats the point of this...they don't belong in the coaches' poll because that would screw up the BCS formula. They have a bowl ban...so they couldn't play in a BCS bowl...this all makes sense. I don't see them improving from last year and maybe taking a step backward....we have no idea what Kiffen can do as a head coach. He hasn't shown a year to year stability that we can judge. The only thing he brings to the table is a fairly attractive wife.
  • TheMightyGators
If anyone can withstand the punishment the NCAA put down on USC it is them. USC is thought of as the cool place to go. It's in LA...they've been dominant for a long time...celebrities on the sidelines at the games....song girls...etc. They will without question take a step back, but I don't think they will be down and out as long as centralbucksfan thinks and would like them to be.

OH stfu you little peon. My points are logical. Just be here when its all said and done. I never said they would disappear. Don't go trying to twist things one way as you usually. Recruiting will take a big hit, and already as unless your living in a freaking cave. Pride? Ya, that will win you a lot of games! Sure helps your Irish doesn't it? lol Kiffin hasn't proven jackshit as a head coach to date. IF he has, please point this out for me. I must have missed it. What a moron you continue to be. An arrogant one at that.

USC is a different monster? USC is this, USC is that. LOL Is that why they were so irrelevant in the late 80's and 90's until Cheatin Pete took over? Then they had to cheat to get back the glory? Ya, Ok..I got it now! lol
HAMP....lol like u have a clue what is really logical. Thanks for the tip smartguy.

It's better to be thought of as an idiot, than to open up your mouth and remove all doubt.

The problem is that you can't make an unbias opinion on USC because they have beaten your team two years in a row, and it pisses you off. Hell, as an ND fan I hope to hell you're right - I'm sick of losing to them every year too. You have a long history of bashing teams that are superior to OSU, and take shots at them whenever you can with as much bias as possible. It's sad, really. Did they cheat? Well, yeah, but it doesn't mean they aren't still absolutely loaded and surrounded with some of the best high school talent in the country.
I hope SC stays down for a while too, but I just don't think it will happen as much as we all hope.
