Ron Zook says the SEC is better than the B10

Zook was knocked down about 3 or 4 pegs after being fired at Florida. Florida is one of, if not the best job in college football. He had the best resources and a gold mine to recruit to and STILL got fired. He is only at Illinois because of his success as an assistant at Florida and brief stint in the NFL. Not because he's a great coach.
Now, had he put up that record in the SEC after being run out of the Big Ten, I might think different, but comparing his W/L record really doesn't make much sense.
Very well put sir. I agree completely. -

Thats the difference...Tressel has more class and is smart enough not to even engage in such a topic. -

No, Tressel just doesn't like answering questions without a vanilla cliche.centralbucksfan;415589 wrote:Thats the difference...Tressel has more class and is smart enough not to even engage in such a topic. -

LOL...and I am just sayin, that there are different levels of class, and Zook is NOWHERE near where Tress is. High class individuals in area of coaching don't get into confrontations with students. You would never EVER see Tress even come close to this:

Hmm...and where have I ever said that? All I was pointing out is there there is NO comparison in terms of class, and in terms of coaching when it comes to Zook and Tressel. Simple as that. Nice try... -

Geezus..and you like to complain about arrogance. -
Little DannyHere is how Tress would answer:
Q: Coach, do you think the SEC is a better football conference than the B10?
JT: Is the SEC a great conference? Yes it is. Is the B10 a great conference? Yes it is. Together you have two great conferences that play exciting football. I'd like to think both conferences would give it their all against one another, and that would benefit the fans, the alumni and the university. -
ts1227Yeah, it's not really a class thing. Zook handled the question just fine.
Reporters would just rather watch paint dry than interview Tressel in the offseason, because they know he won't give them anything useful. -

vball10set^^now that's irony

No. I realize he is a great coach and has really turned OSU into a monster. I just don't think he is as great, as classy, as perfect as all the bucknutz say he is. I was a student at OSU when he got hired, went to the welcome party/event they had where I got a "Tressel's Troops" shirt that I probably still have at the bottom of one of my drawers. Something about him just kind of rubs me the wrong way.vball10set;417688 wrote:^^^wow--did Coach Tressel kick your dog or something? -

Irony (from the Ancient Greek εἰρωνεία eirōneía, meaning hypocrisy, deception, or feigned ignorance) is a situation, literary technique, or rhetorical device, in which there is an incongruity or discordance that goes strikingly beyond the most simple and evident meaning of words or actions. Verbal and situational irony is often intentionally used as emphasis in an assertion of a truth. The ironic form of simile, irony used in sarcasm, and some forms of litotes may involve the emphasis of one's meaning by deliberate use of language that states the direct opposite of the truth, or drastically and obviously understates a factual connection. -

I can see why people who aren't OSU fans kind of get the feeling that he's not how he appears to the media. You rarely get much out of him that isn't a middle-of-the-road answer. That's why some people genuinely feel like he would excel in politics. I think sometimes people just wish he would come out and say how disappointed, frustrated, happy, excited, nervous he is etc, and the fact that he never does that kind of makes people feel like he's not genuine, or like he puts on face for the media that isn't who he is outside of the spotlight...like he's glossing everything over and protecting the situation by not letting anything in or out...Which is true to a point. But if you live around here, you know he cares about the kids, he doesn't put up with a lot of BS, they all must do well enough in the classroom to play (we don't have any Kenyon Rambos playing anymore. Now our kids have to go to JUCO for a year like Duron Carter for example) But the single biggest reason there are so many fans that love Tressel so much (myself included) despite his cliche or cookie cutter (vanilla) responses to most everything. And that is...
I lived through the John Cooper era. -
0311sdpThere is not much debate in my opinion that top to bottom the SEC is better than the Big Ten, the main difference is in the bottom half of the Leagues. The bottom half of the SEC are still pretty good football teams while the bottom of the Big Ten are not so good. Zook just like everyone else is entitled to his opinion. The Big Ten as was stated above has closed the gap somewhat but in most football fans minds the SEC is still ahead. Nebraska will help further to close the gap in the future as would a Big Ten team winning the National Championship.
