This doesn't really surprise me, ND has always had great academics, and mediocre football. They'll fit right in.

You're assuming I watched college football growing up much less ND football. I've always thought ND was a joke, and then they hired Weis, and now Brian Kelley, it'll continue for the next 10 years with BK, especially after he has a close loss to a depleted USC team LOL

I'm not assuming, I know for a fact you didn't watch/play football or any other sport until you stepped foot on OSU's campus.

You know whats sad about ncf? He doesn't really cheer for any team, because the ones he "likes" he's leading the hate train because he LOVES to say "I told you so". So if all you do is tear apart "your" teams, as well as everyone else's, doesn't that pretty much you're not a sports fan at all? Doesn't it actually just make you a lonely, middle-aged man who gets his kicks from hating on Notre Dame, the Indians, the Browns, and ummmmm Newark Catholic? Get a better hobby.....you suck at trolling.

How silly. Notre Dame, while a good institution, is not in the same area code as the Ivys.

Do you think it will be more similar to the way OSU lost to USC in 2009 or the blowout loss in 2008?

Not even the lower end of the Ivy Leagues (if there is such a thing haha)? Notre Dame's business school is #2 in the country, but I don't know more about the school. They don't have City & Regional Planning, bastards...

This is an honest question, I don't mean to argue.

i'm with sleeper on this, nd was good a long time ago. you know who else was good a long time ago?? army.

we understand you ND fans are proud of your tradition, but to say that ND has mattered in the last 15 years is laughable.

Who said that? BTW, they must "matter", dolts like NCF started this thread and you posted on it.

If ND is irrelevant then people should quit talking about them, don't post on the threads........totally IGNORE them!

Granted that thread is just anecdotal claims, but it gave me a pretty good picture. Apparently Notre Dame is on par with the Ivy League, outside of Harvard/Yale/Princeton. A buddy of mine turned down Notre Dame for Yale, but I had a buddy turn down Yale for Ohio State's honors program, so I think it just matters on the program. My grandmother went to Juilliard, and that's harder than all of them to get into! :p haha so I mean i guess it doesn't matter in the grand scheme or things. Interestingly enough, the buddy of mine that went to Yale, his brother goes to Notre Dame's law school so I think they are in the same "area code," relatively speaking.

How difficult it is to get into was not the point. The level of education provided was.

    They are two different things.

The US News and World report ranks the US Naval academy as the most difficult secondary education institution to get into. That's based on , however, the number of applicants compared to the number accepted.

Not according to that, albeit it's 2008. It's funny though, my grandmother who went to Juilliard married my grandfather right after he graduated from the Naval Academy. Talk about some hard schools to get into hahah

But I generally agree with you on acceptance rate and education being different. Lord knows every military junky kid out of high school applies to the Academies and every Notre Dame fan with a 27+ on their ACT applies to Notre Dame, etc., etc., etc. I do think a high acceptance rate is not a good thing. If a school isn't denying people, there is a reason and it's always bad. It's like free candy form a shady-looking fan. :)

Yeah, that was the report I was referring to. I can't remember the year but the USNA is usually right around 12% with approximately 10,000 applications and 1200 direct acceptances or appointments issued. The numbers reported often are inclusive of appointments to the prep school depending on the report.
