Kent State football

FairwoodKingWhat do you think about this year's team? Is this the year we finally go to a bowl? We haven't been to one since I was in school.

sleeperI'm not sure what thread is more pointless, Kent State football or Notre Dame football?

Lou Holtz would be doubly angry haha -
FairwoodKingKent's new AD is making football a priority. He is also trying to get butts in the seats. KSU has a lot of starters back from last year, so we should have a decent team.
Our game at Penn State will be televised on ESPN. I don't know how that will turn out, but it will be interesting to watch it. -

Or maybe a third choice - your comments.sleeper;394994 wrote:I'm not sure what thread is more pointless, Kent State football or Notre Dame football? -
gyea36Seems like a lot to feel optimistic about. Jarvis and their QB are healthy, they have a stable of good rb's behind Jarvis, and Tyshon Goode was highly touted after his strong freshman season. Also, the mvp from the Pennsylvania team in the Big 33 game is a Kent State LB signee. If they can get through the difficult road schedule to start the season, they will be in really good shape.

bo shemmy3337For the first time since Ive been at KSU, I expect them to make it to a bowl game. However, going and getting crushed by PSU and other teams 2 or more times a year does not help the team IMO. They should schedule only one team like PSU a year and then 3 very winnable games IMO. Winning more than 6 games year after year and going to bowl games on a consistent bases will build a program. Giving yourself 3 losses right off the bat makes it hard to do that. This year they could go 2-2 non conference so there is a legit shot at getting to a bowl games. I would still like them to see them play 3 non conference teams that they "can" beat.

I am sure that they would like that as well, but they want to pay the bills for the program and that means lining up for two or three beatings each year in exchange for clean quick million dollar check. playing beatable teams for a program like Kent more often than not means playing non AQ schools and that doesn't pay the bills except in rare circumstances like Hawaii which has to pay a lot to get out of conference teams to come to the Islands. -
KR1245I go to Ohio State but I was born and raised in NE, Ohio. I spent alot of time on Kent States campus when I was in highschool. I dont know much about the program or their players but I hope they do well. I would love to see the Flashes make a bowl game. Same thing goes for Akron

bo shemmy3337I understand the money and I agree with you. I just wish they could take a hit for 3 years or so and give the team a much better shot at getting to 6 wins.

jpake1I hope they do well. I've got them ranked higher in my MAC poll that most people do. I don't know if I see them going to a bowl game. I think I've got them finishing 5th.

We should have been in a bowl many years. I keep hearing about what great recruiting classes we have, and then we have nothing but losing seasons.
I think we need a new coach. I have no faith in him.
