Kansas to the SEC West?

I am well connected in the KU athletic department. Ku is in negotiation to join the SEC West. This will be huge upgrade fro the doomed Big 12. KU will stack up well against Arkansas, Kentucky, Tenn, LSU, Alabama, Miss, and the rest. We will create a serious basketball conference and will immediately occupy the middle of the field in SEC football. It is a good regional fit and will be a good start i allowing the SEC to keep pace with the fat Pac 16. The big 10 wll get more average. It seem likely the ACC will be the next prey to the SEC East.

I suppose anything is better than being exiled to the MWC. Sounds like that poster is slightly bitter towards the other conferences lol.

Ain't happenin' unless Texas and aTm are involved, the SEC isn't moving west......now raiding the ACC, that may happen.

I wouldn't have guessed it, mainly because I thought KU and KSU would probably align together somehow and it seems like there's better teams that the SEC could go after. However, even though the money is in football, SEC basketball could use the boost that Kansas would bring.

Something I'm not sure about is why the SEC would really want to expand further. Revenues were up 57% this past year over what was already an all-time high for them. Realistically, how much higher is the ceiling and at what point does having too many teams (to split the profits) become more of a detriment?

I don't see this happening. The SEC would get better in basketball, but would probably get worse in football. Plus, Lawrence/Topeka isn't a huge TV market, so no increased revenue there. I see this as brand dilution of the SEC without any real payoff, so I don't think it will happen. I guess we'll see.

Let's wait and see what happens with the Big 12 after their meetings. If Texas and TA&M are able to hold the rest of the conference together, we don't see the big implosion along the college landscape that many are expecting.

Say the Big Ten stops at 12 and the PAC 10 picks up a couple smaller players (not from the Big 12)...that will leave ND to join the Big East for all sports.

In any case, Kansas isn't really a good fit for the SEC in a lot of ways, most notably in academics.

will the kansas board of regents allow kansas to go somewhere without kansas st? and kansas really isn't a good fit for the sec expansion...west virginia fits better i think

How would this work? Would Kansas have to play only away games? No other SEC teams are going to play that far west.

    From the article:

Editors Note: This post was removed. The amount of people and places taking this thing WAY TOO seriously was getting a little out of control. This was posted by someone who joined the site, posted and that's all the involvement they've ever had, just a fan folks.

At this point there is no truly credible source that has said anything at all about Kansas to the SEC. I would love for it to be true, but it just shouldn't be out there and taken as fact. Sorry Doc...for now, we'll just have to wait and see.

I have a cousin in Atlanta who is well connected at Georgia Tech. He says that Tech is going to join the SEC along with Texas A&M, Florida State, Miami, and Alaska Fairbanks. However, Fairbanks has reported that they also want Alaska Anchorage to be a part of the deal. It looks like this is going to happen, folks!

What we know for sure at this point is that the Big 12 is losing TX, TX Tech, OK, OK St., and CO to the Pac 10 and NE to the Big 10. TX A&M will go someplace. It is not likely that the Big 12 will survive. I can't imagine Kansas going to the SEC. Their football team isn't worth that much, and let's' face it, this is all about football.

Really? We know that? Actually, I believe that all we know is that Colorado is going to the Pac-10 and that Nebraska is going to the Big Ten. Anything else is assumption and speculation. At least two of the other four schools you mentioned have schedule special board meetings for Tuesday, so it sounds like we may know something for sure at that point.

I would bet lots and lots of money that Kansas will not be going to the SEC. In fact it is probably in the football team's best interest. Kansas would be lucky to win 5 games a season. They have been an avg team in a largely avg conference.
  • Azubuike24
This is purely a wish on Kansas' standpoint. The SEC has absolutely no interest in the Jayhawks.
  • jordo212000
Yeah Kansas does absolutely nothing for expanding conferences. They are however the apple of C-USA and the Mtn West's eyes right now.
