  • 2quik4u
USC has been hit with a two-year post-season ban in addition to the loss of scholarships, among other penalties from NCAA.

So there 2004 National Championship will be voided?
  • Lovejoy1984
Hasn't been decided yet if they will have to void the championship.
  • sleeper
    It needs to be voided.

Other than that, no problem with the penalties.

Just said on ESPN "may have to vacate wins from 2004 season. BCS committee could decide to strip title"

    LOLOLOLOL

So, Petey C knew what he was doing by taking the Seattle job.

And I also LOL @ Lane Kiffin. This couldn't have happened to a better guy. Will he now bolt USC?

2 Year postseason ban is definitely going to hurt their recruiting, obviously as is the schollie losses... This could severely set the USC program back a few years.

And people wonder why I say there isn't a coach in football that I'd rather have manning OSU than Jim Tressel.

This will have an effect on USC but I wouldn't expect the Trojans to fold their tents and run off into the night. The talent pool is incredible. The record over a long time has been consistently toward the top and I think if anything, this will galvanize the USC Program into an us vs. them mind set. They will emphasize the quality of incoming freshmen and others and will make games like Notre Dame and other "name opponents" their "Bowl Games" for two years. Rest assured Trojan haters, that they will not disappear. They will return bigger, faster, and better than ever. I understand. I'm not particularly excited about it either, but I guarantee that it will happen.

Exactly what I was thinking. He knew, no doubt.

He should have told Seantrell Henderson.

Good serves them right. Now what about that OL recruit that was waiting on signing in LOI to see what was going to happen to USC. Did he sign it?

The only thing I don't get is the forfeiting of wins/titles. Why does it matter? People aren't going to forget who won on the field and the fact that he was already at USC and some agent decided to give him money had no impact on the outcome of those games. It isn't like his parents house made him a better football player. If the BCS takes away the title, is everyone suddenly going to talk about that year being the year there was no title game?

The postseason ban and scholarships is way more important than trying to rewrite history.

Dude, if you don't think this won't affect USC future, your drinking some strong koolaide. It certainly will. Loss of 20 scholarships and 2yr bowl ban will affect the next few years of recruiting significantly. Not only that, they have another "shadey" coach running the program. Its going to set USC back a number of years, no question about that.
And do your research...after John Robinson left, the first time...USC was pretty insignificant, and had a couple losing seasons as well.

I am loving this. FINALLY a big cheater gets hammered the way they should (assuming all this is true).

What's even better is the fact that the current coach was on the staff when this crap happened, so he's getting punished appropriately for not doing his job the first time around.

Now I'll wait patiently to see the New York Athletic Club strip Bush of his bogus Heisman and the BCS take away that bogus title.

Kudos to Yahoo Sports for taking on this investigation when "the world wide leader" was too busy getting on its knees in front of Petey and giving him yet another knob slobber on national television (how does that taste now, Herbie?)

My advice to the NCAA is to give USC the death penalty, then have the Song Girls come have the secks with all of us

In terms of this thread, Alabama went through the same stuff almost. They turned it around but it took a little while.

I think you're right that USC will be back, but they're going to have to struggle for a while before they can do it. I think they deserve what they're getting, but I'm not so naive to think that there aren't plenty of other schools doing the same thing or more.
