Buckeyes pick up commit from WR Evan Spencer
-
WriterbuckeyeApparently, Braxton Miller's announcement has had at least one good effect: an outstanding receiver prospect (and OSU legacy) has decided to announce for the Buckeyes.
A terrific followup to Miller's commitment -- and hopefully just the first of some very good good players who will follow Miller onto campus.

sleeperGood pick up.

After watching the film, I love this kid! Doesn't blow you away with break away speed but he has outstanding ball skills, is tough as nails (watch some of the blocks he throws on much bigger players), and excels at a variety of roles.
Are we absolutely sure he'll go to OSU as a WR? I could see him ending up as a great CB. Regardless, he'll be huge for OSU on either side of the field IMO. Very impressed by his film. -
darbypitcher22good pick up

tcarrier324.77 is pretty bad. but he looks good in the video

Wow! 4.77 40 time. Big 10 speed!! -
devil1197Braxton will bring in a lot of talent.
We didn't have a guy like that in last year's draft class, but Brewster was the guy two years ago.
Miller has already stated that he wanted to commit early and help recruit for OSU. -

j_crazy4.77 is LB speed. is he playing safety in college or WR?
-
thedynasty19984.77 is slow for the NFL, but this is college football so I dont' see it being as big of an issue if he runs good enough routes.

4.77 is slow for college football. In fact, it's so slow, it's hard to believe if that is even accurate.thedynasty1998;381542 wrote:4.77 is slow for the NFL, but this is college football so I dont' see it being as big of an issue if he runs good enough routes. -

I searched for more reports of his 40 time. Most sources came from Buckeye sites touting a 4.43 40 but I found an article on Fox Sports about Spencer and his teammate from before he committed.

Spencer has 4.43-second speed in the 40-yard dash and scored a 25 on the ACT. He said he won't choose a school that throws all the time or runs all the time. He is looking for a good mix among coaches, players and academics.
