Agreed. He was dead on about OSU needing to get in the bonus, thats the only way we can score lately.

Agreed. Slow, and he's a bad ball handler. Should come off the bench IMO.

The last two games were the most inconsistent officiated games Ive ever witnessed. Cal should have had 40 fouls in the second half. And how is it not an intentional foul when three fouls in a row under a minute the Cal player would just wrap up the ballhandler not even making an attempt for the ball. Not to mention last nights game the countless times an OSU potential rebounder had position and a UNC player blatently going over the back.

For the actual gameplay, Ohio St. had better start shooting free throws better and handling the ball or they are going to lose games they shouldnt. This game should have had reserves in the last 5 to 8 minutes instead of depending on the zebras to put you on the line. Bad shot selection as well. As much as we heard about the experience of this team by the "experts" there is no confidence on the floor.

Bufford couldn't hit water from a boat....

just imagine how awful this team would be without Turner...he could conceivably be National POY

At least I'm not the only one not understanding the Diebler situation. I don't get what he's done to deserve the playing time that he is getting. He does nothing to contribute when he's not hitting shots, and half the time he doesn't have the balls to shoot.

As for the intentional fouls, of course they are intentional, but they are not going to call that unless a player is in danger of getting hurt.

Diebler does exactly what he was recruited for, 3pt shooting. Think what you want, but he is a very good spot up shooter. He fits in perfectly with this team, especially with a player like Turner who can penetrate and kick.
If you watch teams carefully, they have to keep someone on him very close at all times....which again, opens up the lanes for Turner, Lighty and Buford to do their thing.
I happen to think Deibler fits in perfectly with this team. There is NO ONE on the bench that is better or that can do what he does.

Interesting how people LOVE to get on Diebler when in FACT, Buford is about the exact kind of player. And he stunk up the floor these past two games...but NO mention of him. Diebler, like Sylvester was, is OSU honorary whipping boy for many of you. Thats quite obvious. If your going to critcize anyone ...give it to Buford who tanked because he couldn't throw it in the ocean.

BTW, good solid win for OSU tonite.

I am happy the Bucks held on to win.

Keep on hatin on Diebler. When he hits a game winning shot this year or goes off for 30 some night, I want to see what you all have to say then. Because it's going to happen. He can shoot and that's a fact. CBF hit it right. You need a spot up shooter with the type of players we have on the floor.

Matt Sylvester deserved to be the whipping boy. He was a sub 40% shooter and only hit about 30% from 3 for his career. He hit a couple of huge shots, but overall he was just bad.

If Diebler is hitting shots he has a role, but in no way should he be a 35-40 minute guy. We just don't have the depth to sub him out. Our bench is VERY thin.

I would agree that Diebler is primarily the "designated shooter" and when the "shooter" isn't hitting, he will become the whipping boy. I also agree that he doesn't really handle the ball as well as most Division 1 back court players and he isn't that fast, but when he's on, he's one of the very best perimeter shooters in the league and we need him to make opposing defenses play honestly. His outside shooting opens things up for others and the mere threat of his 3 point shot is valuable.

I want everyone to read that line in bold again. What some of you dont understand is that this frees Turner, Buford and Lighty even more to drive and create. They hug Diebler so much most of the time that his defender does not help off of him. That is a huge factor.

He is the 2nd leading scorer on the team with 15 a game. He doesnt turn the ball over(2:1 assist to turnover). He is shooting 45% from 3 to start the year, and he doesnt deserve to play the whole game??

Have to agree with CBF on everything here, cuz Buford has been downright awful with forcing bad shots and then getting so frustrated by missing that he disappears from the game.

Buford and Diebler about the exact same type of player? Am I reading that right CBF?
  • thedynasty1998
No doubt that Diebler will get hot a few games and go for 20 plus several times. But does he have to play 35 minutes every game so we can wait for that to happen?

You ask who on OSU's bench can do what Diebler does? I'd say everyone if he's not hitting. And maybe Mark Titus? He's a self proclaimed shooter.

My real problem with Diebler is that he's soft, and there's no excuse for that in my book.

Soft? How so? Nobody but Hill plays harder then Diebler does. The guy is constantly running off screens on offense, and is doing his best defensively. He is on the floor MORE then anyone on the team.
Your issue is obvious...he isn't as athletic as the others on the team. He has his limitations....absolutely. But the guy gives everything he has while on the floor. That in my book, is not soft.

Buford certainly has more upside and is more athletic. But all you need to do is look at the stats from last year.
Last year, Diebler had twice as many asst., avg just as many rebounds and shot almost the same percentage as Buford. Buford avg 15pts and Diebler 12pts. Diebler had twice as many 3's as well.
And this year Diebler is off to a much better start then Buford.
Nothing against Buford, I really like him....but I get a kick out of those ripping on Diebler, when in fact he does just as much, if not more then Buford has.
Again, people with those unrealistic expectations of Diebler coming out of HS because he is the all time leading scorer in Ohio.

BTW, Diebler moved into 2nd place all time at OSU in 3pt FG made this weekend. Trails only Jay Burson.

Are you serious? How so? He's all over the place, most games.

Diebler hate is absolutely ridiculous. He's second place all-time in 3 point shooting, and has been exactly what most RATIONAL fans expected.

He's one of my favorite players, and i enjoy watching him night in, night out.

P.S. Bob Knight is my absolute favorite doing games.
