If the Big Ten added a team...

FootwedgeAlso...they should have a Big 10 title game. If that was already mentioned up above, I apologize.

Agreed, back to back would be to much. there should be only ONE osu/mich game a year!sjmvsfscs08 wrote: I think it makes more sense for Ohio State-Michigan to be in the same division. Otherwise they could play in back-to-back weeks, and that would just be weird, and wrong in my opinion. -

Until they can compete with the major conference players (and this year, like the last few, they have shown that they cannot) indenpendent status is merely a novelty, and not a position of strength for this formerly legendary program. -

Speaking of clueless. -
ts1227Why would a good Big East team like WVU or Pitt leave?
They have a clearer path to the BCS staying put, especially after Brian Kelly moves on (perhaps to ND) -
AltorThey should try to get the University of Chicago to re-join. Chicago still owns more Big Ten/Big Nine/Western Conference championships than Purdue, Northwestern, and Penn State. (I'm counting championships in all sports...not just football.)
...of course, they'd also have to move up from D-III.

I agree with that, keep OSU and UM in the same divisionsjmvsfscs08 wrote: I think it makes more sense for Ohio State-Michigan to be in the same division. Otherwise they could play in back-to-back weeks, and that would just be weird, and wrong in my opinion.
and the divisions don't have to be based on geography either. Take the ACC for example -
hoops23Yeah, OSU and UM CAN NOT be in different divisions. THE GAME should only be played once a year.

I love it when "know it all" like this clown make themselves look completely stupid. -
Hesstonthe problem is the big 10 is run by guys from the Woody/Bo era. they will never change and the rest of college football will lap us several times before they may wake up

Trust me, I won't "mind" a thing that comes out of your mouth. You don't know what you're talking about. -
tcby99Rutgers - The State School of New Jersey...to draw the Eastern media.
-
ptangzootAs far as media would go I think Syracuse or Rutgers...Syracuse I think is a little stronger over all sports VS rutgers so I gave them the nod...
-
darbypitcher22I wouldn't add any of these teams. Big Ten doesn't need a Championship game. Plus when you add the 12th team the Big Ten name becomes pretty dumb, like it is right now
-
jpake1I would vote for Pitt. Then re-name the conference something like the Big Dozen, ha.
-
NateOr they could add 2 and be the Big Baker's Dozen in honor of Dusty Baker of course.
-
NateI voted Pitt BTW. I think they would work perfect in the Big 10. Dave W. is making them into a respectable team. Pitt is a beautiful campus.
-
fortunesfoeIf there must be a 12th team then Notre Dame gets my vote.
Tradition Division
1. Illinois
2. Michigan
3. Michigan State
4. Minnesota
5. Northwestern
6. Ohio State
Excellence Division
1. Indiana
2. Iowa
3. Notre Dame
4. Penn State
5. Purdue
6. Wisconsin -
darbypitcher22I guess if you had to do it with Notre Dame they'd end up front loading one division, and they'd probably align it by football so it'd probably look like this:
Division A
Ohio State
Michigan
Notre Dame
Wisconsin
Penn State
Iowa
Division B
Michigan State
Purdue
Minnesota
Illinois
Northwestern
Indiana
At least that's how I think it would show up. So you'd have the same problem you have with a frontloaded Big XII South and a VERY weak North in most years. -
j_crazyI don't feel that any of the Big East schools would leave because of that conference's basketball prowess (and I include UND in this group). Of those options the only viable ones to me are nebraska and ISU Nebraska doesn't have any reason to join the B10 (i.e. no rivals, and longer road trips) ISU has Iowa already as a rival and wouldn't be as long of road trips to places like Ann Arbor or Happy Valley. So they seem most likely.
the team I'd most like to see would be UND because they have a tremendous following. I'd also love to see UC because it would be cool to add another Ohio team that is as competetive now as they've ever been. -

Division A would be the toughest ever made. i dont think they would go for it, but that would be the absolute toughest division ever.darbypitcher22 wrote: I guess if you had to do it with Notre Dame they'd end up front loading one division, and they'd probably align it by football so it'd probably look like this:

Mr Pat
Not even close to 90, I just enjoy knowing what I'm talking about so I don't make things up and sound stupid. Other people seem to enjoy it, but it's not my thing.killdeer wrote:

That is all kinds of wrong. Notre Dame tried to join the Big 10 a looong time ago, Big Ten said no. ND is the logical choice, but for some illogical reason, they all still think they are "too good" for conference play. What an inane and naive perspective. Especially with that ninny as your coach.
Pitt is probably the best choice.
You were on quite a roll though, well as much as you could be without being right... In any case, taking away the history Notre Dame has had with the Big 10, still without NBC it is in Notre Dame's best interests to stay independant. Even if the Big 11 fans think they're naive.
With everything the Big 10 put Notre Dame through I don't understand why they'd want to go there. Let's put it this way. The Big 10 is like that girl that you liked when you were younger, no matter what you did she wanted nothing to do with you and tried to get her friends to never talk to you. Over the years you started (well not you because you like making claims without knowing the history, but bear with me anyways) becoming more desireable and eventually you were the most popular guy in the school (I know, I know, but still stay with me) and all of a sudden she likes you. However, you realized how much better you have it without her because you found somebody better. So you stay doing your own thing, no matter how many of her friends want you to date her.
You want to say Notre Dame is irrelevant (wrong), what does that make the Big 10?? I find it hilarious that somehow Notre Dame would gain it's legendary status back by joining a weak conference (Notre Dame did go 2-1 against the 11). -
vball10setI'd love to see ND,but it ain't gonn'a happen-- my next choice would be Pitt
