I would have thought the SEC would have dropped some with all that talent that left for the NFL.

We should have just let those bastards secede from the Union. I am so sick and tired of everyone south of the Ohio river giving reach-arounds to one another.

    SEC chest thumper..........

There are some pretty nice articles on the right hand side of article

As opposed to all of Ohio doing it here? (At least they stand in a Block O formation when they do their circle jerking)

I'd like to see team SEC come up North and play with the big boys, they wouldn't win a damn game, not a DAMN game.
  • goosebumps
^^^ why is that? Cold weather? Thats a worn out excuse. When a northern team goes south is it a disadvantage because its warm?

For some reason people that think OSU is the best thing in the world annoy me quite less than SEC people. Its different to blindly support your team, but to blindly support an entire conference because you all are proud of being from the 'south' is annoying as hell.

You mean like when a much slower Wisconsin team beat a Miami team who was complaining of the temperatures (low 50s) in North Florida, whereas it was practically summer vacation for them?

I'd bet you any single SEC that came to play Wisconsin in December would lose.
  • Azubuike24
Why would any SEC team come north in December? Why would any conference opponent play such a huge, non-rivalry game in December? It just doesn't happen, unless it's a planned trip to Hawaii.

The research has been brought up time and time again. The SEC plays as many tough OOC games or even moreso than other conferences. Why should they get dinged because most of them are in warm weather?

I knew someone was going to bring this game up. Yeah the Canes were cold, but seriously, the game was a great match up for the Badgers. Big, powerful, physical running team against an undersized team that runs a spread offense. To be honest, Miami was very overrated last year. They were so inconsistent. I think ESPN and the media hyped them up so much because it was important to them that Miami be good again.

As someone else pointed out, who plays in Wisconsin in December? Even B10 teams don't play in Wisconsin in December. Their season up to now has been wrapped up in November (except for Illinois last year who played Fresno State).

Actually after some reflecting, there may be something to your argument. South Florida is always really tough in september and the first part of October when the weather is warmer. They always, year in and year out, fall apart in late October and November when the weather begins to cool. They play in the Big East so they have to travel north for away games.

I broke it down like this, Games in September to the first half of October Plus all home games should be reasonably warm and away games starting October 15 should be a bit chillier. Here's the records for the last 5 years.

So, for games that were theoretically warmer they were a combined 37-11.

Games where it was theoretically colder they were a combined 5-13.

This includes bowl games which I put into the warmer category.
I'll break it down a little better later, (into BCS and non-BCS games to try and get a better feel for it)

For the 28634589237502350989325823098528358437092 time.........OOC games are mostly played late August-early Sept in which its warm everywhere.
Take a gander at Columbus average temps during the day. Even in October it averages 65.4 degrees. Burrrrrrrr, thats freezing. And we all know that the B10 gets done with football season early since you whine about how much time between last season game and bowl game.

Dont let facts get in the way.........lol.

Must have been blistering cold when Miami got blasted by V.Tech last year. Must have been just a little chilly when they lost to Clemson by 3. It was probably a little colder in the North Carolina Had the temp been about 10 degrees warmer in the Wisconsin game, they probably would have won by 6 instead of losing by 6.

I'd bet you any single Big11 team that came to play in the Swamp in September would lose.

especially when 99% of the bandwagon fans on this site who thump their SEC chests aren't even from the south :D

And the last time Florida had traveled outside their state to play a significant out of conference game was???? Now move on and shut up.

Recruiting and Coaching are 2 reasons the SEC is so much better than the rest.

Here are the 6 major conferences for 2010 recruiting class

    ESPN150 signees by conference
    Big East---- 3
    Big 10-------14
    ACC---------17
    Big12--------28
    Pac10--------28
    SEC----------57
---UF with 17 ESPN150 signees had more ESPN 150 signees than Big East, Big10, ACC had.

Also of note is that number of schools per conference which did not have a ESPN150 signee are as follows
    BigEast--- 7
    Big10----- 6
    ACC------ 6
    Big12----- 6
    Pac10---- 4
    SEC------ 3

    ....................................................

    Rivals 250 signees for 2010

    BigEast-- 9
    Big10- 24
    ACC--- 30
    Big12-- 46
    Pac10- 48
    SEC- 77

    For all those flashy recruits...

    Heisman Trophies:

    Entire SEC: 9
