Could be a huge rumor as the first link on the topic was yanked. You guys can look for links through the 7 pages of talks if you want. I only posted a link from the first page. I also saw where Pitt is basically a done deal to the Big 10. -
vball10setRobert Smith seems to think it is (according to what he said on College Football Live on ESPNU last night)
-
krambmanI don't think anything is a done deal right now. Things may be heading in the direction, but I don't think that there has been nearly enough time in this process yet for a deal to be done. First the conference needs to vet a school, I would think that the conference AD's would have to vote to extend an invitation (and as of right now, I don't even think they've officially vote to expand at all), and the school would need to vet the conference and have their board of trustees vote to make the move. We've AT LEAST 6 months away from anything being a "done deal."
-
stroupsI hope so, this was the team I wanted
-
jordo212000I've quit worrying about this. I'll pay attention when I see something official.
-
WebFireWasn't this already a rumor awhile back?

At this point, I think I'm taking this stance. Seems everyone is getting an "inside source" that tells them so-and-so is joining the conference. If the accelerated timetable theory is to be believed, we will know soon enough.jordo212000 wrote: I've quit worrying about this. I'll pay attention when I see something official. -

j_crazywe're lacking because someone on tigerdroppings said that, and there is no functional link to a website whose credentials are on par with mine (i.e. none)?

CinciX12Seems to me this would help Missouri much, much more than help the Big 10.

sportswizuhrdMizzou to Big 10
Arkansas to Big 12
Miami, FL to SEC
Just my guess. -
SykotykWould Arkansas want to go back? I'd rank the SEC a tad higher. Now, if the PAC-10 got Colorado and Utah, I would think the Big 12 would be desperate and go after TCU. They'd make overtures to Arkansas, but I don't see the advantage for Arkansas (other than rivals, but not for money). Which would leave the Big 12 aiming for any number of MWC, WAC, or C-USA schools. Tulsa, Houston, Rice, SMU, UTEP, New Mexico, Louisiana Tech, Colorado State, or BYU.
Which would greatly diminish the Big 12 and basically force it back into a glorified SWC.
And if the Big Ten did add Missouri, I'm sure Nebraska would be throwing themselves at the Big Ten to take them, too.
Sykotyk -
WriterbuckeyeMissouri brings two terrific media markets solidly into Big Ten territory -- and that will help build TV revenues, an area in which the Big Ten Network already has a solid lead.
Adding Kansas City and St. Louis is no small potatoes. Those are very solid markets, and probably better college football markets than anything you'd get by expanding East.
When all is said and done, I think Missouri is one of the schools that joins the conference. -

It has be public that they have wanted back in the Big 12 for years.Sykotyk wrote: Would Arkansas want to go back? -

All except for Miami to the SEC. Miami is a small private school with a pretty tepid fan base. If the SEC takes a school from the ACC it would be Clemson or Florida State both of which are geographic fits whose primary rivals already compete in the SEC.jordo212000 wrote:

cats gone wildWhat about GT to the SEC?
-
newarkcatholicfanMuch better choice than Notre Dame.
-
se-alumI think the Big 10 is going to want to expand by 3 teams, and might end up raping the Big 12 to do it. I expect the landscape of college football to change drastically over the next couple years.

No rhyme or reason, just went off geography.3reppom wrote:

I was going to say, Miami's natural fit has always been the ACC. They were out of place when they were in the BigEast, which is why them and Vtech left. Look at who they play in the ACC...Florida State (huge rivalry), Virginia Tech, Clemson and Georgia Tech, which has turned into a very passionate game every year since they entered the ACC. I would think there would be 0 chance Miami even considered going to the SEC unless they were willing to take Florida State too, and possibly Virginia Tech. If the SEC ever considered that, it would be a pretty cool thing to have all 3 traditional Florida powers in the same conference though, especially as much as they all hate but respect one another!3reppom wrote:

Pick6Idk if Florida would like MIami in the SEC, they dropped them.
-
sjmvsfscs08I couldn't see Miami going to play in the SEC. The school is just too small and Miami isn't a football town. Florida State fits a lot better, but they've been the shit in the ACC up until recently. I don't know, that would be like Michigan leaving the Big Ten.
I don't think anyone really know how it'll play out, it could really change football football dramatically. The Big Ten could expand to 14 teams and add Missouri, Notre Dame, and Pittsburgh. The Big XII expands to 14 teams and adds Arkansas, Texas Christian, and Utah. The SEC expands to 14 and adds Florida State, Georgia Tech, and Louisville. The ACC expands to 14 and adds Connecticut, Syracuse, and West Virginia. The Pac-10 could always expand to 14 and add Boise State, Nevada, and BYU.
