Terrence Jones To Announce Friday At 6:30 EST
-
Azubuike24Appears UK may not be done.
They are in the running for UTEP transfer Arnett Moultrie, who will be eligible in 2011. Moultrie has narrowed his list to Texas and Kentucky. Definitely a high level talent here, was projected by some as a top 15 pick earlier in the year. 6'11 SF/PF with some serious upside.
Seems like former Memphis SG Roburt Sallie is also an option. Sallie, who graduates from Memphis soon, would be able to play right away at Kentucky. Sallie chose Calipari and Memphis over Gillispie and Kentucky two years ago, and at the time he was the #1 JUCO in the country and came in with three years of eligibility left. He had originally committed to Nebraska.
There is also Kadeem Jack, who may still be on the radar, but less likely now that Jones and Vargas have both joined the mix.
Another name that has popped up is former Minnesota signee Royce White. A lot of issues here, not sure this is a smart route to go.
With that said, Calipari may add one more player in this class, and it could be any of these guys. -
thedynasty1998I know the reasons why the NBA is appealing, due to money, no recruiting, ego, etc...
But Calipari can get whoever he wants now. Although he will likely have high turnover from year to year, it doesn't seem to bother him because he continues on that path. Pretty crazy to see how quickly things have changed at UK. -
Azubuike24It seems many of the appeal for college coaches to the NBA is about ego and money. Now, money for Calipari (and a few others) is always going to be there, whether it's at UK or in the NBA. The bigger driver, IMO, is achieving the greatest at the college level and then moving on to the NBA. Now, the NBA could certainly be in his future, BUT...I do believe there are more likely candidates for NBA jobs in college right now for two reasons:
1) He already bolted to the NBA, took the money and had no success. He came back to college after his disaster with the Nets.
2) He hasn't won a title in college. You would think the ego/new challenge thing wouldn't be as big until he wins one at the college level.
So yes, I can see him leaving for the NBA if he wins a title and is at UK for a few more years, but I don't know why he would leave right now unless someone offers him such an insane amount of money, power and talentthat he can't pass it up. However, which NBA team is going to do that? I don't think that offer is out there right now. -

Amazing recruiter. Not an amazing coach yet. Couldn't figure out a 1-3-1 zone. You don't get a trophey for recruiting. And UK will have to deal with yet another 4/5 bolting next year. Good luck winning a title with an entire frosh team.Azubuike24 wrote: Amazing. Calipari is amazing. UK is now a Final Four contender yet again. He has replaced 5 possible first round picks with 6 very good players and without a doubt the #1 class in the country. Adding Jones and it's really not that close... -
Azubuike24I don't see 4 or 5 of these guys bolting. Kanter likely. Maybe Knight. Jones, Lamb, Poole and Vargas will be there multiple years I'd say. Combine that with another year of Miller, Liggins and Dodson I don't think it will be that bad. If they retain 3 or 4 of those guys combined with an absolutely sick 2011 class, I think he's got as good of a shot as any.
Next year, the team won't be entirely Freshman though.
Darius Miller, JR
DeAndre Liggins, JR
Darnell Dodson, JR
Josh Harrellson, SR
Eloy Vargas, JR
That's more experience than this year's team had, when they essentially had 1 player in the top 8 (Patterson) who had any experience. Ramon Harris and Perry Stevenson were experienced, but they were the 9th, 10th or 11th guys. -
Azubuike24However, I was referring to recruiting. Losing FIVE one and dones, and bringing in 6 new players who are by far the #1 class in the nation? Who else could do that? All on the heels of a 2011 class that may include 5 of the top 15 players in the nation?
Not sure why you keep bringing up Cal's coaching. Nobody else claims he's a great coach, yet you keep making sure everyone knows he's a bad one. -
Azubuike24And just for kicks...when will the all of the big-time publications start writing articles about how abusive Washington fans are toward Terrence Jones? When will the fans of every other school start ripping Husky fans? Some of the stuff that has been said about him from that area is disgusting.

YOu don't see them bolting? And of course saw Cousins, Bledsoe and Orton all leaving ahead of time? I doubt it. Those players are going to UK for one reason, and one reason only. You know it, I know it, and everyone else knows it.Azubuike24 wrote: I don't see 4 or 5 of these guys bolting. Kanter likely. Maybe Knight. Why? For the same reason that you are hanging between Cal's legs on every move he makes. lol I would expect this from a certain "Cats" fan...from you its a little surprising. Someone needs to ground you.Azubuike24 wrote:

Azubuike24What he's doing in recruiting is amazing. He has signed 10 5-star players in less than 13 months. He's going to have the #1 class 3 years in a row. He might end up with a dozen first round picks over this time period (3-5 years).
I wouldn't say I'm overstating or exaggerating his recruiting. It truly is on another level right now.
His coaching, while it isn't great, certainly isn't any worse than a ton of other coaches. That's why I wonder why you keep bringing it up. It's almost like you must ground the people who see this recruiting as a positive and balance it out by just bringing up negatives.
Now, I certainly understand what you are doing, but you also claim to have "no vested interest or care either way", while I, clearly DO have a vested interest and definitely care about the positives. So in a sense, it makes little sense where you are coming from. It's like me going back and forth with you on OSU related stuff daily. I wouldn't be doing it because I felt genuinely about OSU in a certain way, it would be simply to oppose you.
See what I'm getting at? Now if you wanted to come out and flat out say you dislike UK, are rooting against UK while Cal is there and want them to fail, then I could understand your posts, but at least say that. Don't chime in with the standard "I don't really care about UK either way" because it certainly seems like you have a lot to say about them. -

Agree, somewhat, but after reading catspause since the Terrence Jones saga started, i've been pretty appalled at what the "BBN" has said about him as well.Azubuike24 wrote: And just for kicks...when will the all of the big-time publications start writing articles about how abusive Washington fans are toward Terrence Jones? Creepy actions from both fanbases, pretty much. -
Azubuike24Oh I agree. It was more of an indication that all fanbases have those fans. The ones who give a bad name to the entire group. Unfortunately, the media paints it like fans of certain schools are much worse than anyone else, while smaller groups like Washington fans can do the same things and nobody is ever aware of it.

Azubuike24Calipari stated today that he's still looking to add another player for next year. Currently, the roster looks like:
SENIORS
C Josh Harrellson
JUNIORS
SF Darius Miller
SF DeAndre Liggins
SG Darnell Dodson
PF Eloy Vargas
SOPHOMORES
SG Jon Hood
FRESHMEN
PG Brandon Knight
SG Doron Lamb
SF Stacey Poole
PF Terrence Jones
C Enes Kanter
PG Jarrod Polson (walk-on)
It appears the four candidates to take up the one more spot would be PF Arnett Moultrie (UTEP transfer, 2 years left & have to sit out 1 year), SG Roburt Sallie (Memphis transfer, 1 year left), SF Royce White (Minnesota transfer, 4 years left) or Kadeem Jack (HS Senior, 4 years left).
My guess might be Sallie for next year taking up a scholarship for 1 year and Moultrie on scholarship who would be eligible in 2011. -
cbus4lifeCrazy good lineup next year.
Should be a lot of fun to watch.
I think Jones is going to be the best of the bunch. -
Azubuike24Appears the extra player may indeed be former Minnesota recruit Royce White. One of, if not the highest rated recruits in Gopher history.
Lots of off the court issues. I can't imagine the backlash if the Cats add him. Stay tuned.
