    Conferences of interest:

    Big 10 33
    ACC 31
    Big 12 30
    Pac 10 28
    Big East 18

    ACC 2.58 players per team
    Big East 2.25
    SEC 4.08
    Big 10 3.0
    Big 12 2.5
    Pac 10 2.8

Seems about right based on this season. The SEC had a lot of veteren talent. The Big East was really really young. OSU will put a ton of players in next year.

    More SEC chest thumping.

Funny how one thread makes you think of another thread:

ACC has been putting solid players into the NFL for a long time. I think what has kept the conference down recently has been coaching quality, and the SEC machine in the south getting all of the publicity.

    But definitely coaching.

Veteran talent, yes, more talent, definitely. The SEC tops the list almost every year. Next year will be considered a "young year" and they will probably still top the list.

This is what I was more interested in. Raw numbers don't mean much when the Big East has eight teams, the Pac-10 with 10, Big Ten with 11 and the other three with 12 teams. It's the players-per-team that really tells the story.
  • goosebumps
I agree, these numbers are much more telling. Last season the Big East was right up near the top with more than 3 players per team (cincy had 6)
  • sportswizuhrd
Not that it makes any difference but the Pac-10 and the Big 10 each had one more player drafted. Should be 34 for B10 and 29 for P10(at least that's what I got from NFL.com)

I don't think it means much. Break it down to the first 3 rounds and the last 4 rounds. Quality makes it past training camp, they say if you don't get drafted in the first 3 or 4 rounds you'd rather be a free agent to pick a squad that fits your strength and position. (Blount, Clark)

another note no one noticed, 5 of the 9 Gators were JUNIORS

if you took away MSU, Wisc and UM, the B10 average would be like 5.3

is "UM" Michigan or Minnesota ?
  • goosebumps
^^^ that's how all conferences are though.
  • Speedofsand
take away the 7th round of the draft and the Big10 has 24 players instead of 34. = 2.18 per team
  • I drain 3's

Regardless of whether it's the 1st, 3rd, or 7th round, they were still drafted.

Take away the NFL draft and SEC graduates wouldn't have jobs LOL

I'm sure if you took out Vandy, Miss St. and Kentucky the SEC's average would be like 10. If the B12 could take out Baylor, Kansas and Iowa they would be able to do the same. See how that works.
  • TheMightyGators
Should be a really down year for the SEC this year with so much elite talent off to the NFL. :)

How many players would there be from each conference if you only included those without arrest records?

Are you sure they are graduates?

Hmm.... Big Ten comes in 2nd..... yet the Big Ten is an inferior league in everyone's mind....

I would not take Vandy out of the SEC, it is only UF & Vandy that meet AAU standards in that conference.
  • goosebumps
Why do Big 10/11 fans get their rocks off so much from the AAU?

Not being a member does not mean you aren't a great university, or not a leader in research or academics.

Then again, if you take OSU and Michigan out the B10 averages like 1 per team. :D
