Braxton Miller Watch

  • Quint
I know there is a Buckeye recruiting thread already, but I thought a player of this caliber deserves his own thread.

According to the following blog, Miller visited last week. Any word on whether we are closer to a commitment?

TOP RECRUIT IN THE HOUSE — Huber Heights Wayne quarterback Braxton Miller — the top recruiting prospect in the nation for 2011 — was at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center on Thursday, along with his father, Kevin Miller, Wayne head coach Jay Minton and Wayne assistant coach Pat Wood.

Miller, wearing Ohio State garb from head to toe, watched the entire practice from the sideline inside the facility.

Following the session, Miller, along with his coaches, were able to hang with Wayne alums Marcus Freeman — now an OSU assistant — and defensive back Donnie Evege. Miller also had an opportunity to chat with head coach Jim Tressel on the sideline for a few moments after practice, sharing a few laughs in the process.

Miller looked very comfortable in the OSU setting. He is definitely the Buckeyes No. 1 target for next year's class.

fingers and toes crossed--it'd be a helluva get

I think he will be a Buckeye but I also expect him to take some, if not all of his visits. I mean why not, almost every school wants him.

Is he really the #1 recruit in his class? I had no idea he was that highly regarded.

he'd be nice to have. Makes the transition from Pryor to somebody else a bit more bearable, hopefully not dealing with Bauserman or Guiton

    I know this is only OSU's list--but he's #1 on that:

It depends on who you ask. He is a top 10 player in this class and nearly every service will have him in that range. Some will put him 1st, some won't.

Scout is the only major service with their 2011 rankings out and Miller is their number 4 player in the nation.

He is without a doubt the most important recruit for the Bucks to get. He has stated that wherever he goes, he will be recruiting heavily for that school. We have seen this effect in the past work for and against us. If he commits, expect DePriest, Grant, Walker, and possibly Koyack to follow.

he has stated that he will take all of his visits but that he wants to make a decision soon after that. His decision is expected sometime in the early fall.

What other schools are he considering?

Basically every top school in the nation.

    OSU, ND, Bama, UF etc.

He'll be a Buckeye by the end of the summer, as Tressel has advised him to take all his visits.

Yeah pretty much everyone but I think the only place that he has been to besides OSU is Florida and they are going after him hard.

In the end, I would expect his 5 visits to be OSU, Florida, Michigan, and ND with one more thrown in for fun like LSU, Miami, or USC.

I understand every school is recruiting him, I was asking more about a top 5 that he has given.

I'd venture to say OSU, UF, Bama, and ND.

Bama is pushing hard for him and his good friend Trey DePriest. OSU has also offered both players.

Why would he want to go to Florida. Look how they coached Tebow. He had to learn on his own to throw the ball. I am not saying Tressel is a God but at least he is trying to get Pryor to be ready for the NFL (not saying he will)

And you are saying that Meyer didn't try to get Tebow ready for the NFL? That's a patently false statement. Tebow had a long, drawn out, exaggerated throwing motion when he came to Gainesville. They worked with him extensively to condense his motion to make it quicker and more compact but in the end when it was game time Tebow went back to throwing the way he always had. Can't really blame Meyer or Mullen for Tebow falling back on a more comfortable motion during games.

Would love it if we got Miller and DePriest! For some reason I do nnot see DePreist coming to OSU though even if Miller signs.

He has not given any top 5 or 10. It is all speculation.

i dont buy meyer trying to get tebow nfl ready.. there aint no fucking way tebow would come farther in a couple months preparing for the draft than 4 years under meyer if he had worked with him.
